I am writing this review on behalf of the team I went out for lunch with and want to warn other people of the terrible service. We ordered food from the regular lunch menu. We ordered dayalu and paneer sizzler as starters which were quite nice. But when we got our main dishes - kerau paneer and potato-cauliflower subji, we couldn't even stand the smell of the dish. It seemed like the paneer or peas had gone off and smelt quite bad. It is hard to believe they would even put this on a plate for their customers. When we complained they made us the fresh one but they were quite unapologetic. It seems like they made another so they don't have to take this off the bill. In our second dish the cauliflower was ok but the potatoes had gone off. We could smell it but was not as strong as the kerau paneer dish. When we complained about this, the waiter was quite offensive to us and asked if we had eaten at any other Bengali restaurants before (although Gurkha kitchen is a Nepalese restaurant). I won't comment on his knowledge of the cuisines but no cuisine serves food that is gone off. To further add to our bad experience, they seemed so unapologetic and shamelessly charged us the full amount for the spoiled food.
A few of my colleagues have stopped going to this restaurant for being served stale chicken or just serving a dish with some raw red chilli powder when asked for making their food a bit spicier. I suppose if they don't get their act together, they will lose more customers. I know I am NOT going back...

My recent dining experience at New Gurkha Kitchen in Reigate on the 16th of August was nothing short of exceptional. As an Indian, finding a place that offers the warmth and authenticity of home-cooked food can be a challenge, but New Gurkha Kitchen exceeded all my expectations.
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, adding a personal touch to the entire dining experience. The ambiance was cozy, and it felt like a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a good meal.
Now, onto the food—simply delicious! We started with the momos, which were perfectly steamed and bursting with flavor. The Sag Paneer was rich and creamy, reminding me of home-cooked meals. The Tejilo Machha (fish) was a standout, with its delicate spices enhancing the fresh taste of the fish. The Sherpa Lamb was tender and cooked to perfection, each bite melting in your mouth. To complement our meal, we had paratha and naan, both freshly made and a perfect accompaniment to the dishes.
The food truly captured the essence of traditional flavors, making it an unforgettable experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend New Gurkha Kitchen to anyone looking for authentic and delicious food. This is a place I look forward to visiting...
Read moreIt really pains me to leave this lovely restaurant a bad review, but I really dislike scammers and any business that willingly misleads. We booked for Mother’s Day to take advantage of their Sunday Funday set lunch menu. We’ve done this before on Mother’s Day and they are always a packed house and always offer the set menu. I emailed to book as usual and it was confirmed without any mention of changes. We arrived to an empty restaurant, were seated and when I asked for the Sunday menu, was informed that it wasn’t being offered due to Mother’s Day. When I asked why the set menu was being advertised and why they didn’t tell me when I booked, there was just a shrug of the shoulders. I’ve eaten here lots in the past and normally the food and service is exceptional. Today they have lost a longstanding customer through their own greed and exploitation of a special event. It’s not like they were even busy, we left a quarter of the way through their lunch service (without ordering) and the restaurant was still empty. We...
