MIYOSHI (Sushi & Cocktails ) — Restaurant in Reigate and Banstead

Unfortunately me and my partner had a bad experience. We arrived early to our booking friday night, and were understandably asked to wait for our table to be ready. In order to not be in the way, we waited outside in the cold and rain, just to see two parties (one of them a couple, like us) arrive after us and be sitted before us. Once inside we ordered drinks and waited to order food. In the meantime, a group of ladies arrived and as there was no available table, stood around us, crowding the already tight space. The restaurant managed to bring in an extra table from the back room and put in the only available walking space on the restaurant. The restaurant was so loud we had to yell across our tiny 2 person table. While this was happening, we were still waiting to order our food. We saw the group that had arrived after us (but sitted before us) actually receive their food, and we had yet to order ours. We finally managed to flag a waiter down and realised we had been sat for 30mins at that point. The ambience was beyond unpleasant, loud and crowded with terrible service, and the other couple who had been sat before us actually decided to leave (after having ordered food) at that point so I believe it wasnt just us bothered by the overcrowdedness of the place. The ladies sat in the middle of the walkway also decided to leave not long after without ordering anything. We eventually got our food (about an 1h after being sat) and it was average at best. The tteoboki was soft and tender but the broth wasn't that nice. I believe they served me the wrong noodles (asked for udon, but it was the thinest udon Ive ever seen) but they denied it. The whole experience was quite deflating to be honest. We felt discarded and not taken care of. Quite a mood killer for date night. Wont be back. This restaurant failed on almost every level. Despite having a reservation, we were crammed into a makeshift corner in an overcrowded, chaotic, and deafeningly loud space. People who were waiting were hitting our table, our space, with their bodies it was too cramped. The service was just as bad—15 minutes for food menus, MORE THAN 30 minutes to place an order, and my water never arrived despite reminding the waiters twice. Our waiter’s disorganisation only made things worse, including reconfirming our order a while after and delaying it further…

As for the food itself, it was mediocre at best. The flavors, quality, and authenticity didn’t match the prices or the hype. Considering the disorganised service, overcrowded space, and disappointing food, the experience was far from worth it. Sadly, this isn’t a place I’d recommend...

We went to try Miyoshi, which had only been open for a week and were so impressed! The staff and owners were really attentive and lovely, answering our questions and being genuinely friendly.

They have a huge menu and the food was fresh and delicious! We will definitely be going back to try some other dishes. The decor was comfortable, dark and classy with some original touches from Asia.
