Salfords Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Reigate and Banstead

Visited for the 1st time with my father last night as he was raving about this fish & chip shop. So I looked them up online to find out pricing etc, and paid them a visit. I ordered a haddock and chips, rock & chips, onion rings and a saveloy. The size of the haddock was like a small whale and the rock although it was thin in width was still very long. The onion ring were being eaten while still piping hot and you could taste the flavour in the onion. The chips were nice and golden and tasted of potato which was light and fluffy inside. Please notice I've not mention grease or greasy once, this is because non of it tasted of grease. A very nice, value for money treat all round. Unlike its competition opposite the drive through McDonalds, which has become very expensive. As an American in the UK to visit my daughter's family, I wanted to visit a neighborhood family-run fish and chips shop, and multiple people recommended Salfords. I'm so glad they did. The portions were large, the quality of the fish excellent, the batter crunchy but tender. We ordered both cod and haddock. Also, the scampi (what is called scampi in the UK is NOT what is scampi in the US----these are delicious breaded langostinos) and fried haloumi cheese were delicious. The couple who run Salfords are very helpful and friendly, and we liked the food so much, we went back again a second time. My family arrived late as the chip shop was about to shut. We had a long drive from Cornwall and the very kind owners of the restaurant stayed open and especially cooked some food for us. It was a warm and friendly place. With kind staff and delicious food. Cornwall is lucky to have fantastic chip shops almost on every street. So to find one that served food as good as those was a real lucky treat for us. If you happen to be hungry and in the area. Be sure you will get a fantastic feast of epic proportions.
