What a find. Six of us get together every so often and wanted somewhere different to eat, one had heard the Da Peppino in Horley was meant to be good so we thought we would give it a try.
On walking through the doors, the staff were well turned out, extremely efficient, extremely pleasant to the point of being up there with some Michelin started restaurants I have eaten in. They knew their menu, made recommendations and were overall at the top of their profession, 5 stars to the staff.
The Food. From the starters of mixed cold meats, to my personal choice of whitebait, squid and tiger prawns the portions of which could have fed two if not three (you cannot fault the generosity of the portions) all of which were delicious, to the mains of sea bass parcels (three of us), lamb shank, to the sirloin steak (two of us) the steak just fell apart in your mouth and was as good as fillet, so for food a definite 5 stars cooked to perfection
Bottles of Rose and White wine, 5 in all went down extremely well hence the quantity, all made for a fine dining experience and a fine and most enjoyable evening overall.
Only three of us could find room for desert, a chocolate mouse that was described as heavenly, strawberries and ice cream (as good as it gets) and limoncello sorbet with strawberries a speciality, all were just delicious.
We arrived at about 19:30 and the restaurant was already close to full, within a short time there was not a spare seat to be had. When we eat out we tend to head for Reigate, London or one or two other very good restaurant's we know of which I will not mention here as this review is about a real find, Da Peppino.
If you appreciate a restaurant at the top of its game, you will go along way to better Da Peppino, I and my friends would not hesitate in recommending it, so give it a try, you won't be...
Read moreThe restaurant looked lovely, the staff were tentative. Cannot comment on the food as we did not eat here. This was booked well in advance as we knew that an Elvis tribute was on. When we arrived we were shown to our table which turned out to be a cubicle right at the back and behind the said Elvis ( who was brilliant ) Think Health and Safety would have gone mad at this! We had electrics and wires all over the floor, which we were advised to go careful with. Had to get Elvis to ask for drinks for us as when his act began we were effectively trapped behind him. The owner was told that we were not happy being on this table and his reply was that if we gave him 1 hour he would get us a table near the window, this was such a lie . An hour and a half later I went to speak to him at which point he was rude and loud, shouting at me, I expressed my dismay at being shouted at and being belittled at which point he asked me to step outside where he just continued to shout and be rude. I pointed out that social media was there to put customers point across and he said Oh! Facebook and Trip advisor - don't care. Just a word of advice because the owner is very intimidating - is quite happy to shout at you in the street and in front of other people. Also just for info the owner has just bought the Tapas...
Read moreBeautiful meal, lovely atmosphere. A last minute decision after a long day of travelling, we were tired and irritable and tempted to just grab a cheap takeaway from somewhere but so glad we made the effort to go out to Zeno. We arrived to a beautifully presented restaurant a bit underdressed but welcomed all the same. Normally I would’ve felt a bit intimidated in this situation but our hosts made us feel at ease. Clearly very skilled at their jobs they came across as incredibly professional but also warm and hospitable too. There was a wide choice of appealing dishes (even though we’re vegetarian) and when the food arrived it was out of this world delicious! Good sized portions, not unnecessarily fussy or complicated but expertly prepared to deliver so much flavour. We’d intended to eat quickly and get back to the hotel for an early night but the quality of the food and service encouraged us to stay on for desserts and coffees which were also just divine. Overall one of the best meals and dining experiences we’ve ever had, I couldn’t...
