My partner & I ate here Wednesday evening ... I had the cheesy garlic bread pizza which was okay = though it was very greasy to the point of the making the base soggy, I ate it as I hadn't eaten all day - my boyfriend had the salt & pepper king prawns, which were rubbery & swimming in sauce that had overkill of fennel?... For mains - I ordered the chicken coated in breadcrumbs - but didn't get crispy breadcrumbs due to all the tomato based sauce piled on top of it & oil leaking out from the sauce - I had 2 folk fulls & couldn't eat anymore... my boyfriend had steak - which he said was burnt on one side & over -killed it with all the sauce (should place this in a gravy boat) so you can add amount to liking .... the side order of chips were greasy & too dark (appearance & taste of being fried more than once) - the side of veg was okay = average (something other than carrots would be a change though) ... I did mention about my chicken being soggy - she offered to take it back, but we wouldn't have had time to wait & eat as had to vacate table by 8 as it was booked & had put me off by this point to be fair... The staff were lovely & accommodating - though would not eat here again as just didn't do it for me at all....ate at a few different Italians & they were spot on. Not my first Italian dining experience & won't be my last...
Read moreIf it wasn't so expensive I probably would have enjoyed it much more. I had a fillet steak, which when described on the menu sounded great, (didn't state the size however, was later informed they only do 8oz by the waitress) the meal came and it was literally a steak in the middle of a plate, swimming in sauce, my partners meal looked good but again a little light, then came a little pot of potatoes and veg which we were informed was two portions, so we split it 50/50, we ended up with 3 chips each, a small floret of broccoli each, a couple of carrots and one baby corn which we almost fought over. £23 that cost....each.....the food itself was ok, my only criticism as far as quality goes is that there was far too much sauce, especially considering the lack of food! The steak was cooked well and the few hand cut chips we received were nice, I would however suggest putting them in a separate dish to the veg as they had gone soggy unfortunately. All in all I don't think I would return as I don't feel they offer value for money. When spending top dollar I expect more than 'ok'.... And more...
Read moreAverage. It's just plain average. 18oz t bone steak, £28. An honest and frank review. The staff were all very friendly. The place is a strange shape. Horse shoe like. It's dated and tired with plastic flowers randomly placed everywhere. They need cleaning.. the whole place does. It seems like blokes have been told to dress the place and not done a very good job. It needs a deep clean by a professional, and it needs a womans decorative touch.
The coffee machine needs to have a good clean and the bar area. Let's not mention the toilet. For god's sake, mop the floor, clean the toilet bowl, and get some bleach down!
It's these things that put you off. If everywhere else is dirty, god only knows what the kitchen is like.
The food is ok, my steak was perfect and my wife liked her lemon chicken. Its just the cleanliness that lets it down. Misty glasses, dirty fridge doors, empty juice bottles just left out after mixing cocktails, dirty expreso nozzles, filthy toilet.. all adds up. What is the army...
