I have been here 3 times now, the first time, being a steakhouse, I came for the steak... being a steakhouse and considering the high prices they are charging, I had high expectations and went for the fillet... to say I was disappointed is an understatement... it was edible, but I've had more tender and tastier steaks from the cheap steaks in Beefeater! This was the same for both mine and my partners steak, and I believe she went for the rump or sirloin. There were also items missing that we had to chase.
The next time, I avoided steaks like the plague and had a hotdog and a burger. They were OK, nothing special but OK, and they messed the order up once again.
I was really reluctant to go back again but my partners parents chose to take us there for my partners birthday and I really wanted a decent steak and considered giving them another chance but I spoke to her brother who had been recently and said his steak wasn't great so I decided to go for a burger instead. Everyone's starters came out reasonably quick, but I chose not to have a starter, and that was a big mistake as the mains took absolutely ages... bare in mind that this was a Thursday evening, so it's not exactly peak time. The music was quite loud, so everyone in there was talking loudly, so not the best atmosphere for a family gathering as I couldn't hear half of what was being said.
The meals didn't all come out together, so one of the meals was only luke warm by the time we all tucked in, and once again, the items brought out were wrong with items missing. My burger was OK, nothing amazing, and if I didn't have the pulled pork with it, I think it would have been too dry. One person had a steak which they were very dissapointed with.
I don't know exactly how long it took for the main meal to come, but we got in there at 6:30pm and didn't leave until 9:30pm and gave up waiting for service to take our dessert order. All in all once again very dissapointed... I don't say this about restaurants often but I doubt I'll come...
Read moreFound off the busy street, known locally as the high street, this charming little business has been going for some years. With a darkened wood atmosphere and booth type seating along with bigger tables for groups, the whole place gives an American type cozy feel. Staff are very welcoming and appear to be happy to be there, a somewhat rarity these days. Staff were quick to serve and main menus along with specials are presented. A good choice of items available and although a little more on the pricier side, you get what you pay for. Fresh, hot food arrives quickly. The bar offers good choices of hard liquor along with cocktails and the standard beers etc but you come to this place for the steak. A good fillet will see you paying around £40 with some more expensive T bone steak Available. I ordered well done and my fillet was perfect….no burnt crisping beef here! Food portions are good along with the pudding choices too. Overall a meal for 2 with the top end choices will set you back around £100-£115 for three courses….but it’s worth the money. The place was packed so testament to the service and good you get here. A well earnt 5...
Read moreI ordered the chicken ceaser salad. The salad came with zero salad dressing, like anywhere. I asked the staff for salad dressing for my salad and was "informed" by the manager that the ceaser salad doesn't come with dressing 😂. Apparently when you order a ceaser salad with chicken you get lettuce and a chicken breast? I asked for salad dressing to go with my salad. Manager looked annoyed and brought me some vinaigrette something. I told him I would prefer cesear salad dressing. Viola! He came back with cesear salad dressing. Not sure why they keep cesear salad dressing in stock if they don't serve it with the salad despite having the description of the salad on the menu as coming with cesear salad dressing. I eat at Bentley's smokehouse often and usually order the chicken ceaser salad which always comes with dressing. I love Bentley's smokehouse, will not go back to Bentley's steakhouse. The managers attitude was horrible. Yes I know it's owned by the same family. I guess the moral of my story is, go to the smokehouse and not...
