With the Museum having a large amount of artefacts in a wide range of categories it would be no surprise that there are a lot of unique and unusual things, including; a giant Japanese spider crab, 2 huge wooden model Spitfires, Winston Churchill’s childhood pajamas, Queen Elizabeth the II‘s childhood doll and a lot of dinosaur bones found in Bexhill.
The Museum also had various interactive elements including buttons on the Izzard family rail way to make the trains go round and lights turn on. And on the winter wartime railway, a more built up interactive system with lights, moving windmills, ice skaters, trains and trams.
The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. One man gave a very thorough talk about the WW2 railway.
Because of its construction on a hill the Museum has two floors with the bottom having the winter wartime railway and motoroom and the top having the main room, gift shop and clothes room.
I do recall seeing a lift to go downstairs and ramps to the entrance, but it didn’t seem to have any things for visually impaired visitors.
The clothing exhibit had the chronological order of the items wrapping around the room but this could do with a layout redesign. Some of the items were a bit jumbled up towards the end and a majority of the artefacts in the exhibit could have had more labeling or had more information about the artefact.
The amount of things that the Museum has means that there are a lot of places where they've put something wherever there was room. It would have been nicer in some spots to have a more categorized layout.
I would absolutely recommend a trip to Bexhill Museum. It is great for children as there are lots of interactive activities including the two model railways with buttons to make the trains and other things move.

My wife and I often randomly pick places on the map and go take a look, this was one of the good ones.
This is a small Museum, just one road away from the seafront, blink and you'll miss it, but try not to as this was one of the best few hours we've had in a long time, where to start...
The staff - The staff are friendly and welcoming, happy to be there and love their jobs, that is obvious by the way they enthuse about the place, and we can see why.
The Museum - it is a lovely mix of old fashioned Victorian (almost) museum and modern day interactive, it is split into a few sections over 2 floors, the first floor is very much natural history and local history, but wow what a collection, they have some bits I am sure some bigger places would envy, head to the second section and I am sure you will find something that will make you say "oh wow I remember that" I know I did, look out for the mint "Star Wars" bits I was very jealous.
Downstairs is a small model railway that is a snapshot of Bexhill Christmas Day 1940, the attention to details is just brilliant, and it all works, buttons to push and small details that will keep you there for a while. I wont spoil it for you go and take a look, well worth the few pounds it cost to get in.
On a personal note I would like to thank all the staff there for making us feel so welcome and answering my dozens of questions,...
