We visited yesterday for the Valentines promotion you had on offer. We booked over 2 weeks ago after seeing the menu and wanted to dine here to take up the offer. We wanted the rib of beef for the extra £4 pp supplement! On ordering at 5.30pm on the first day of the promotion We were told the rib of beef had already sold out!!! At 5.30 pm on the first day, I do not find this acceptable at all and was really disappointed!! So we went on to order rump steak instead, my partner was eating his and said it was nice, I thought mine was a little chewy, but carried on eating, I got half way through my steak then couldn't cut it, I looked at the steak and noticed the next half was just all gristle , it was terrible!! I went to the bar as no one had been over to check everything was ok with our meal. He sent someone over and I explained so she took my plate and said she would take it in the kitchen! She returned within a few minutes and said chef would cook me another. My partner was still eating so I said thankyou that would be great. I waited and waited and waited, it wasn't overly busy and they were coming to surrounding tables regular with food!! In the end I waited 30 minutes then went back to the bar and asked for a refund on my meal, the gent said your joking it hasn't come, I'll go and check!! So he returned to our table within about minutes put down £13.49 and just rolled his eyes as if to apologise but didn't!! I had no apology , no explanation of why my meal was missed no offer of a drink or a dessert for an apology nothing!!! It totally ruined our valentines meal. Not only had my first choice sold out apparently , now my second choice was inedible and never got replaced! There was also another 2 tables after me that complained about their steaks, i was in earshot and could hear them also complaining, but I wasn't close enough to hear all that was said. I really expect better at an Ember Inn and really would like a reply to this feedback please! Valentines is once a year and ours...
Read moreIn my experience my partner and me ordered pork LOIN sunday lunch, what we got was in my HONEST opinion, the worst ever pub sunday lunch we have ever encountered. Dont get me wrong the pub is great and the staff very freindly and welcoming but that does NOT make up for a bad dinner. I got only 2 VERY thin slices of of pork, i question the loin as it was 30% fatty, 3 really tough to cut small roast potatoes, what sempt like frozen green beans just steemed, they were almost white which in my opinion is freezer burn, they were tough to stick the fork in and extremely tough to chew. Roasted parsnip i think ? EXTREMELY tough to cut or chew and i COULDNT stick them with my fork, the menu said stuffing balls but i got stuffing ball, 2 yorkshire puddings that were freezer packed yet too tough to cut through, and gravy in a small boat that was only half filled too. Let me add, our food came supplied with a meat knife but the meat was able to be cut easily with a normal kife and i struggled to cut my veg with my meat knife, NO exageration at all.
My partner was overheard complaining and someone else mentioned this, the lady came to her and asked what the issue was so my partner said her veg was too tough and very chewy, to which the lady, very polite and nice offered her fresh veg ? She refused saying it was too late as we were mid way through the food so it would not be good just to have fresh veg ( plus it would come from the same source). Our food was cold when it reached us yet we were amongst the 1st to order food ?
We both felt awkward at the time to complain or ask for our money back as we were there with other people to support a cause so declined to complain further.
My review is 100% honest and i will never order food from there again. One or two minor issues and i would not have even mentioned anything. I eat out regularly on sundays so i feel my opinion is justified.
The amount of food for the money did not equate to value either which is a main aspect...
Read moreWe like the steak night so booked a table for 6:15 (steak night starts at 5pm) to be told there are no steaks available and the only thing left on the steak menu was the beef ribs so we ordered off the regular menu. A family member had gifted us a voucher as they know we go often so we attempted to use it tonight but after being at the bar for 10 minutes while the staff tried to figure out how to use it we gave up and just used cash. On that note all staff looked miserable. While we were waiting 45 minutes for food to arrive (it was only 2 of us and I had a microwaved lasagna) a very large group of men arrived and put several tables together in the middle of the room so nobody could get past so if you needed to go to the bar or when the staff arrived with food you had to walk around them who btw were obviously drunk and were not eating so the staff should have directed them to go in the drinking area or around the bar so the people surrounding them could enjoy their meals comfortably. The food was not enjoyable and the atmosphere was even worse as soon as we finished we left. We were going to leave before we ordered but knew it was a busy period time of the year so wasn’t sure we would get a table elsewhere. Safe to say we will never be going again and advise people to do the same and this is not just based on this visit alone as there are usually small...
