Absolutely beautiful food with large portions on the mains, friendly chatty service led to a comfortable atmosphere.

A single star down for the somewhat expensive prices for the drinks menu (nearly £7 for a large moretti and £3 for a cup of Yorkshire tea) and although the pie and vegetarian quiche were to die for, the smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich was a bit underwhelming - especially when put into comparison with the absolute stellar mains. The salmon and cheese was lovely, but the bread itself seemed like regular supermarket sliced bread, which really didn't do much to compliment the fresh filling.

The steak and guiness pie was a massive meal, the mash was buttery and smooth, the greens were fresh and flavourful (especially the asparagus!) and the pie itself was a solid 10/10. Massive chunks of succulent meat, melt in the mouth puff pastry.

The vegetarian quiche (I have to apologise, I can't remember the ingredients) got resounding thumbs up from across the table.

All in all, highly recommend visiting and we will be definitely coming again (with more people!)

We visited a while ago and although the food was quite nice, we would probably not visit again. We are a group of friends in our 60's and as we were finishing off our meals and drinks, we were discussing what time to ask husbands to come and pick us up so that we could call them to set off. We made the calls, and settled to finish our drinks whilst we waited. The man who had been cooking in the kitchen then came out and asked if possible could we "get them to come earlier" as they "had been there all day and were tired and keen to get home". This was very embarrassing and totally unprofessional on their part. We left straight away and this led to 3 of us having to sit in the car of a friend, in the cold car park, until our lift arrived. We went after new year so was empty as expected. The food was lovely, but I think more needs working on the atmosphere, for example there was no music, lights were so bright, it felt like we were more in a cafe than a nice restaurant. Waitresses were also not very attentive, such as we had to ask for cutlery numerous times to eat our meal, no salt on table, just little things like this. If these changes were made it’d be a lovely little restaurant. Also, when it was the Bistro prior, we used to visit all the time and they did an amazing fish cake starter, this would be great if this was in the...
