Have been coming here nearly 20 years and most other chips shops i’ve been too do not compare. I have had the odd bad meal, sometimes portion sizes have been inconsistent but when the food is on point you’ll struggle to beat it. Which is why i always go back! Can be very busy to the point of queuing outside the doors, but that doesn’t usually put anyone off as it can go down rather quickly unless waiting on fresh chips/fish. Prices are fair when you consider what you’d pay at Mcdonald’s for example, although i do wish you could add a drink to your meal deal for a cheaper price. Read moreWas looking for the best chippy in rugby. Today was the turn of brownsover chippy. What a great venue. Queues were average, but soon cleared, due to the great staff. Vast array of item on menu. But all were on separate signs. So easy to find what you looking for. We went for the fish again, with chips. So both ordered them. Courteous staff. And so quick. Got them back home and noticed how golden brown the batter was not overcooked. And certainly not soggy. Chips are fantastic. All in all bellies full and plates were clean. 10 out 0f ten. Only sight negative was the price. (but get what you paid for) Best we've found in rugby. At moment....
Read moreI have used Brownsover chippy for years and would have given it five stars had I bothered to write a review in the past. The queue on a Friday lunchtime was worth it! Over the last year or two it has gone progressively worse to the point of me writing this review.
£7.10 for a large fish and chips, which had been cooked a long time ago. Crusty, chewy batter filled with dry and rubbery cod, the unfortunate woman checked both trays to see if the chips looked remotely appetising before scooping up the best she could offer.
Instead of grazing on a substantial meal I picked out the best I could and binned the rest....
