The Dorset — Restaurant in Rushcliffe

14/9 Sunday night meal and our table was placed right next to the kitchen. However, the young staff were talking loudly about TikTok and dating & joking around. When asked if we could move to a quieter table or if they could be more professionally behaved, the girl apologised, & took on board our complaint, but the young male server doubled-down, by whistling & clapping EVERY time he passed our table, looked at us defiantly while shaking the cutlery drawer/baskets several times, and LAUGHED while being as noisy as he could. Even the girl couldn't get him to behave. As we had guests dining with us, I didn't want to make a fuss, but this young guy was RELENTLESS at interrupting our conversation the entire evening, with his deliberate +immature noises. V disappointed how 1 server's malicious behaviour spoilt our special evening. Food was great, but a lot of money spent for terrible, disrespectful service. Will not be returning. Popped in for a quick drink but ended up eating some small plates just to sample the food. The place is very clean, spacious and comfortable. It has a lovely up market feel to it. I felt like home, a place for a leisurely family meal, the more the merrier though the place is large enough for a quiet romantic one too. We had halloumi fries, fried squid and onion rings. They were excellent and maybe The Dorset might consider offering multibuy discounts on the price. Honestly impressed with quality and service. They cam piping hot and very quickly. The staff were friendly and engaging. What the dorset could do was improve their selection of ales and beers and offer CAMRA discounts. Otherwise i would have 5 starred the place. That said they have a very extensive drinks menu but wines and spirits and cocktails don't cut it for me. Ale is all! 😃. Will definitely go back for more food and the comfort....

My best friend booked this restaurant for her wedding as she had eaten here before and enjoyed the food, with only 16 guests this wasn’t a problem, then the venue decided there was a problem, they couldn’t guarantee us all sitting together, after another visit to the venue we ( myself and the bride to be) walked out confident that everything was sorted or so we thought, the confirmation of what had been spoken about hadn’t come through by day 5 so a phone call was made, only to be told they had changed their minds and wanted to put the guests into separate booths, what a fiasco, my friend asked for a refund and cancelled the booking, she now has a venue that has guaranteed us all sitting together and the food is just as good. Needless to say they have missed out on a lot of revenue and made what should have been a customers planning for her special...
