This place isn't even worth a star it's that back to front, away with work and sleeping in the hotel across the road we decided to pop over for a pint, two mates I was with ordered a pint I didn't order anything alcoholic as I was driving.
We sat was having a quite chat for literally an hour or so until the miserable old guy from behind the bar stated and I quote "needed to buy a drink because it wasn't a communal area" imagine going to a PUB and it not being a place to socialise apparently, strange already but with no argument I walked over to the bar and now feeling forced to buy I ordered a glass of water (again because I was driving) he then asked me for I.D (yes I.D for a water baring in mind we'd already been sat there a good hour friends already with pints) I'd accidentally left my wallet back home so baffled already I asked if it was alright to show a picture of my passport, he refused and asked me to leave.
The face was quite a funny picture when I pulled out hired car keys from my pocket and asked if I wasn't old enough to order a water and sit with my younger friends that had already ordered pints how have I managed to get a hold of hired car keys.
I smoke too so I was frequently outside the hotel each night watching them haul bladdered men from their doorstep, clearly alcoholics passed out on your doorstep is a better look than someone having a quite social inside.
So if you've no I.D and it's before 8pm then your good to order a pint, if your not planning on socialising with your mates then your welcome in, if your a full time alcoholic and you fancy having a snooze on the doorstep your welcome in and lastly if your happy to sit and look at a bartender with a face like a donkeys old and decrepit back side then this is the place to go.
Other than the usuals that looked like they'd been in there the past 70 year now I know why business looked quite...
Read moreThis pub is one of those gems you come across and not sure you should go in or not. Simple premise inside with a semi island bar with a few bar stools and tables and chairs around the outside wall. Everything was spotless. atmosphere was amazing due to the various characters in the place. Fantastic conversations going on over each other across the whole space. One gentleman constantly in trouble for putting more music on. Just Fantastic. Could have stayed all afternoon but had to get back to London. And the music? Nearly all 60s and 70s. Great stuff. And on top of all that the Guinness...
