I've been coming to the Eccles barley farm for some years as the preferred farmhouse inn chain of pubs but recently this has been marred by a recent parking fine by Britannia parking who now operate the car park for the pub. I understand the pub has to deal with illegal match day parking for the local football and rugby and this is the reason for having the operator. My gripe isnt towards Britannia but towards the pub itself. The signage they do have is normally next to the main doors but said doors are normally open and the sign behind the door making the sign less visible (noted on my last visit walking to the premises). signage isnt as visible as it should be. On buying food and drink no staff asked if I was parking and if so had I registered the cars details to avoid said fine. Simple changes I believe can stop this and decrease the chances of negative reviews by patrons who enjoy the pub and it's staff services.
More signage on turning into the pub itself would definitely help as well as having registration tablets on entering the main doors would allow for patrons to understand this carpark is monitored and that parking fines can be given should you not provide them with your cars registration details this would also reduce the need for staff to keep pestering customers to if they have registered their cars.
I think with simple but clear changes this will stop patrons recieving suprise parking notices and maintain a great establishment as was enjoyed before the car park monitoring.
And for any one wondering there parking charges by Britannia are as follows £100 payment to be made within 28 days from date of issue discounted to £60 if paid within 14days. Be aware register your cars details or it will be a...
Read moreThe food and environment is lovely, definitely a nice place to spend time with family. Most of the staff are lovely!
However, this was my first experience here and it was ruined completely by a member of the bar staff named Laura. I felt as though I had to rush my order quickly as she was asking me questions about my order at a fast pace, constantly looking left and right when I was talking which made me and my partner feel as though she was not paying attention. We had children with us and wanted to swap a £2 coin for a £1 coin in order to use the machines in the kids play area. Laura’s response was “I can’t do it at the till,”. My partner was confused, as he expected THE TILL to be the place where you are able to change money if needed when dining with Barley Farm?… in the end she ended up changing the coin. What we don’t understand if she was not supposed to do it, then why did she end up changing it in the end??? She was not welcoming at all !
We ordered 2 children’s meals which came with ice-cream at the end of it for a dessert, but we was not made aware of this by Laura when she gave me my tickets. So we ended up ordering something different for the kids, which we didn’t need to do.
I do have anxiety which was triggered by the service I received from her. Every other Dining and Carvery I have been to has been perfectly fine when it comes to ordering food at the bar, and never once have I experienced service so unprofessional.
Overall the Barley Farm is a lovely environment for family and friends, and I do strongly recommend it but my experience was ruined by the service I received and I won’t be...
Read moreWe come here for a carvery sometimes, which is really nice. Today we ordered the Tex mex Yorkshire pudding wrap, and a cauliflower wings salad. The wrap apparently my relative said, was nice but a bit bland. My cauliflower salad was a WHOLE LOAD of leaves, with a couple of onions, a couple of peppers, a few tomato pieces & some cucumber tossed in. I mean, I like salad, I don't eat meat so I always eat salads and veg but this salad was a very large bowl-plate full of copious amounts of mixed leaves! Far too much. It would have been much nicer too and more pleasant to eat with more peppers, onions and tomatoes in it. I am not paying £10 to eat mainly lettuce leaves & rocket. My relative ate a lot of mine and I had to leave some too.
Next time I will order them as sides, which works out cheaper too, you get the same amount of wings just a lot less salad leaves! The cauliflower wings are really nice btw. Staff friendly and helpful, thank you. Have to now add this, - the staff could have warned us that we now have to enter the car reg. into a machine, as it is a new thing for them. They warned another couple who came in about 2 hours after us, but nobody told us. Had we have not heard the lady telling her husband their reg. no. as we were leaving, we wouldn't have known, and would have got a fine. The machine was hidden away at the side of the pub, it wasn't obvious. As it's a new thing for the Barley Farm it would be nice for them to tell us, the sign board was quite low down & we just thought it was a Specials board / something. The other couple said they didn't see the...
