I would give 0/5 if it was possible. Horrible experience from start to finish.
We were informed it was a carvery (on Sunday’s) then seated with no explanation of how the carvey service operated or anything. I later overheard the other waitresses asking customers if they wanted to see a wine list and alternative menus but we did not receive the same.
After seated for a little while, a waitress asked if we wanted drinks from a small menu already on the table. These were quite limited but nevertheless I ordered a mocktail. This was ‘out of stock’ confusingly as they make the drinks at the bar next store which should be stocked for the hotel guests. The waitress seemed to have a slight attitude about ordering drinks which made me feel inclined to order a different drink I didn’t not really want. I therefore ordered another drink to which a different waitress gave the wrong drink - one I didn’t order. She had to be informed of this and went back again.
We then had to ask if we could go to the carvey as we did not know what was going on. Found out the carvey has starters, mains and desserts. Items within all three are very hit and miss. Some items are delicious such as the carrots and chocolate mouse. But some were a big miss such as the roast potatoes which were drier than the soil they would have been grown on. I have ate at many restaurants with a similar price point and never has the food been so hit and miss. For the price point this is very disappointing.
Lastly, before leaving we found wet/fresh chewing gum stuck onto the bottom of my handbag which has been under the table. Please note: this handbag had been in a gym locker previously which was CLEAN. We alerted the waitresses who were adamant it was not from the restaurant but nevertheless cleaned the handbag. The sticky reside of this disgusting gum had gotten on some of our clothes. When asking for assistance/wipes THE WAITRESS TOLD US TO DIP TISSUE ON THE TABLE INTO THE GLASS OF WATER TO CLEAN IT OFF, STATING THEY DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO CLEAN IT WITH. I think this staff member needs to be retrained. Thankfully, another random waitress gave us wet wipes.
This was a terrible experience, I sincerely hope we were an isolated case for the sake of...
Read moreThis is a restaurant that I feel has gone a bit downhill over the years, but still offers a decent and substantial service. We ate here as a birthday celebration, we were staying in the adjacent Delta hotel and had our dinner here. We were welcomed by a friendly team member with a smile and quickly seated in the cosy, quiet and comfortable dining area. You are served at your table at this restaurant and it didn't take long for our waiter to come over and ask for drink orders. We didn't bother with starters as there was nothing we fancied, so straight onto mains. Our food did take quite a while to arrive, but when it did, I found my sirloin steak and the chips that came with it to be very tasty despite the portions being rather small. However, I find the onion rings I ordered on the side to taste quite greasy. Desert options were rather limited, there were around 4 sweet choices as well as a cheese board for those who prefer something savoury. They did also have around 4 different flavours of ice cream. Despite being only few options available, desert portions were rather large and the food they did serve was very tasty. It took a while for the bill to be sorted after we had all finished eating but other than that the service was fabulous, we didn't have to leave our table to order and were frequently checked up on by our very friendly waiters. Our meal altogether, for our party of 4, cost over £100 altogether, so not something we'd do regularly. Overall, it is a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience, as well as being super convenient if you are staying in the Delta hotel as it is under the same roof! This is thanks to cosy aesthetic and atmosphere, friendly service and delicious enough food. However, we found some items to be underwhelming, options to be limited and wait times to be rather long, so won't be rushing back. We did have an okay experience...

[Atmosphere] The atmosphere was lovely, like a subdued glow; not too busy and not too loud, perfect lighting and comfortable seats with lovely crockery to accompany.
[Service] The waitresses were all lovely and polite to speak with and when serving. Service was fairly prompt.
[Food] It was the food that was the let down; ultimately I came for the food, everything else is secondary - if the food doesn’t taste great then the atmosphere won’t be able to save the review no matter how nice it is.
I ordered a King Prawn Linguine and whilst the prawns themselves tasted succulent, the rest of the dish was literally pasta mixed in with a tin of tomatoe paste(!) It lacked flavour, depth and form.
The dessert however was lovely, a brilliant take on sticky toffee pudding and very nicely presented.
I would be willing to give this place another go off of the back of the staff, service and dessert, but the main dish would definitely...
