AVOID
I recently hosted drinks/food for 80 guests at the Delph following my daughters Christening.
We received multiple calls prior to the event requesting payment despite at the time of booking being told we would pay a deposit and the remainder on the day of the event. When trying to raise concerns following the event the owner was uncontactable despite trying to contact via email/in person on multiple occasions.
Numerous issues occurred:
We pre-ordered pizza from the party menu, we were told to order an estimate amount which we would be able to add to on the day if required. On the day we required additional food but were told that the non-event customers were a priority and therefore no further pizzas could be ordered.
There were 2 staff on the bar - they tried to work as fast as they could but with 80 guests in our party in the main room and other customers outside/in the side room there was a considerable queue for drinks.
I felt both of these issues were poor and could have been avoided with better planning from The Delph given that the room hire was in excess of £200 for a 4 hour period on a Sunday and we had given prior notice of the number of guests which would be attending.
I had hoped to avoid having to write a negative review but the lack of contact from the owners/management has left me with little choice.
I will not be returning and do...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery poor; there are several poor reviews on here and yet this isnāt reflected in the average which is four stars; not sure how this is worked out but it doesnāt seem right. There was no track and trace which I thought was now mandatory? We ordered coffees which were promptly delivered but they were lukewarm. When we mentioned this to the manager (? He seemed to kind of be in charge) he looked slightly amused and blamed āthe machineā. We agreed that he could replace them (my friend suggested heating in the microwave but changed the order from coffee to tea).
Again ... barely warm ... even the tea! We didnāt bother drinking the tepid tea of coffee and again mentioned this to the manger, who again looked amused and limply apologised. No offer of a refund. How hard can it me to make a āhot drinkā something more than ambient temperature?? We held the teapot and instead if it being really hot as expected ... it was slightly above cool! I suggested that they maybe put boiling water in the pot before making the tea in it but the manager again responded as if this was a ridiculous suggestion. We didnāt ask for a refund but we wonāt be going again. Itās not hard is it? Hot drinks ... should be hot? Bewildered! Not impressed....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust went for a coffee with a friend. Parking can be difficult because there aren't many spaces, so I had to park on one of the neighborhood side streets and run across a very difficult road to get to the restaurant. Beware of this and plan ahead.
They were great for accommodating us even though we didn't have reservations (during covid) and it was busy. Staff was excellent and it was decent decor inside, although a little frilly, there were charcoal sketches of tasteful nudes around to balance out the florals. They had music playing which was ridiculously loud. It's nice to have music in the background but it was so loud that I couldn't hear my friend speaking nor could she hear me. We both ended up with hoarse throats from shouting over the volume of the music.
Their coffee machine was down so not only could I not get a coffee, they didnt have the capacity for ANY hot drink. I couldnt even get a tea. They apologized profusely. I had to get a soda instead even though I hate soda. Then the bill came -- £4.40 for one soda. One soda = £4.40? That's insanely overpriced. I imagine if I actually ordered food and a coffee I would have had to make a ritual...
