We recently dined at Worsley Old Hall with my family, and I must say it was an very pleasant experience. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a lively atmosphere that added to the great experience of our evening. The pub is notable for being dog-friendly, with many furry friends also enjoying the vibe. There are restaurant tables throughout the outer rooms, making it a perfect spot for both families and dog owners. Even though it was busy, we managed to book a table online in advance. We arrived slightly earlier than our reservation, and the friendly waitress encouraged us to enjoy a drink at the bar while our table was made ready. The drink selection was impressive, with a variety of tasty beers and ales alongside the usual lagers. I particularly enjoyed sampling several keg ales, with the “Road Trippin Extra Pale” was excellent. Once seated, we quickly ordered food for the kids, which arrived promptly. For starters, my wife opted for the pate, and she followed it up with the slow-roasted tandoori lamb for her main course. I chose the beef croquettes and the sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce and a side of buttered vegetables. We paired our mains with a lovely glass of Rioja wine, and all the food was fantastic. We shared delicious profiteroles for desert. The service at Worsley Old Hall was exceptional. We felt warmly welcomed from the moment we entered until we left. However, I did notice that with the restaurant being busy, it took about 20 minutes to receive our drinks when ordered at the table. I found that retrieving drinks myself at the bar was much quicker. The pub is conveniently located next to the Delta Hotel where we were staying. A note for larger groups: they require telephone bookings and deposits for tables of ten or more. I did attempt to call several times but wasn't able to reach anyone; perhaps booking in person would be a more effective option. In summary, thank you, Worsley Old Hall, for a fantastic evening! I can’t wait to return.

I always love a trip to Worsley Old Hall, whether it's for a quick bite during the week, an evening drink or a lovely Sunday dinner, I've never been disappointed. I most recently came with my partner for a dessert pitstop while walking our dogs, as Worsley Old Hall have a small pudding & hot drink offer. We got the sticky toffee pudding & chocolate brownie with teas and they were both delicious. Both are quite sweet but because it's a small portion it doesn't get too sickly. We sat in the lovely outdoor area which is perfect for dogs. In the past, we've also dropped in mid-week while walking the dogs to get a quick bite for lunch. We had a steak sandwich and chips to share which were very tasty. The bar area is also dog friendly so it was nice to come in and enjoy a break. The star of the show by far though is the Sunday roast dinner at Worsley Old Hall. They usually have the classic roast meats (beef, pork, chicken and lamb) and they are not shy with the trimmings. The other mains are also great, in particular the fish and chips. Now that the weather is nicer, there's plenty of space inside and outside (and you don't need to book the bar area or outdoor tables). But would definitely recommend booking a table in the dining room for the rainy or cold days because it can get full quite quickly so no guarantee you'll be able to walk in and get a table in the bar. Overall, I always have a wonderful experience at Worsley Old Hall and have brought many friends and family members here.

A gastro-pub that relies on the neighbours (both in the surrounding area and the hotel next-door, which it is unconnected to) for most of its trade. It's a beautiful old building with a massive beer-garden and plenty of space inside, too (but it is advisable to book a table for food). The food is divine, and come in at just under £10 for the starters and often just under £20 for the mains. While some staples remain, the menu is revised daily. I've pretty much eaten my way through the menu, and there was nothing that was below par. There's a good selection of drinks (including non- alcoholic options, which is gadget as there is a large car park) Front of house staff are attentive and polite, although you get the impression that for some it is a stop-gap whilst waiting for sobering better to come up. Some are friendly and chatty, but should perhaps take more care about what they say (regaling patrons about how hungover they are following the night before is not to everyone's liking!). Seasonal specials (pigs in blankets, mulled wine, and -yes- Christmas trees) are available, too, at this time of year..

A bad experience all round.

We booked this for Father’s Day though we regularly enjoy the Worsley walks and dinner at Old Hall.

The service was slow and sloppy even though at 4pm the place was relatively empty.

We were seated in the back garden room where our server (a young blonde woman) very slowly came to serve us. It started off when my pregnant wife asked for the non-alcoholic gin only to be told there wasn’t any, no non-alcoholic wine only 1 beer. I had to ask multiple times and then eventually another server for the wine list.

When questioned as to the trimmings that came with the lamb shoulder, we were told she didn’t know (which isn’t a problem) but didn’t offer to go and find out.

When the meals came, my sons child meal (fish fingers and chips) was served on a plate hotter than mine, I mean who signed off a that in the kitchen? My meal came and whilst the lamb was delicious, the roast potatoes were simply boiled spuds that looked like they’d been flambéed, burnt on the outside and cold inside.

After we’d eaten, I asked the server if we could have our desserts outside, which we were told we could but we had to pay up then order at the bar. Where is the sense in that?

I then had to argue with a bar member and I suppose a manager that I was allowed food outside as not only had the server said so but I could see people eating outside! I ordered a round of drinks and dessert, to which I asked for some help outside with my drinks. This wasn’t forthcoming.

The fish cakes my 9 month pregnant wife ordered has also given her severe food poisoning, not ideal when baby is due this week!

All in all, this usual great food haunt of ours has seriously let itself down on a...
