Black Country Chippy - Great Bridge — Restaurant in Sandwell

I visited on Sunday 23/1/2022 Firstly there wasn't even a greeting to any of the customers who came into the business. I continued to wait as the staff member with the poorest attitude,  thin blonde woman,  served the lady and gentleman before me, whilst complaining about the delivery drivers at the window. At this time two of the other staff members were dealing with the delivery service but she was very vocal about it. After this, one of the two girls who were getting orders together directed her attention towards me, she was a small blonde girl, but instead of saying "hello, how may I help you" she turned around at the counter and stared at me, at this point I didn't know if she was serving or doing something else, she lifted her eyebrows at me and that's how I knew she was ready to serve me. I enquired about a managers special in which she proceeded to walk to the side and just pass me a pamphlet and continued to stare, she said NOTHING.

It was only the third girl with mousy brown hair who saved this from being such a disastrous visit as when she diverted her attention away from the delivery service she was engaging. Informing me how long my food would take and that they don't serve plain chips.

After taking my payment I realised I was still left with their pamphlet (which was not for guests it was hanging on the wall for the staff) so I passed it to the girl who had finished serving the guests before me, she turned to me and said "I don't want it, but ugh" and she took it off me. Did she want me to leave with what seems like their only source of information of the food they serve, and her attitude literally screams minimum wage, minimum effort. I left and went to the chipshop around the corner named "Frydays" and the whole service was polar opposites apart, and all I did was buy plain chips there, but the whole service made me wish I hadn't been to the black country chip shop beforehand.

The food was terrible. The onion rings were from a packet that I saw her open in front of me, as though she had just brought them from Asda around the corner. The cheeseburger was a joke also.  I will not be returning and don't advise spending your money here if...

This is a great, modern, black country chippy. For those of you not familiar, 'Orange Chips' (lightly battered) are a speciality in the Black Country. The Black Country Chippy's chips are so orange that they're almost red. Not sure what that's about, but I do know that they taste great. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Exactly what you would want.

There's quite a wide range on the menu and it's the usual set of suspects, but it's all good, based on what my family have sampled so far. The SF chicken is especially good in my opinion!

This isn't the cheapest chippy but I'm of the view that you get what you pay for. It's bright, modern and clean, with the menus on TV screens and the staff all in uniforms. This is a business where the attention to detail is there. The staff are friendly and quite quick and they're online too, via at least one food delivery service. What's great is that unlike a lot of fast food outlets they have a separate serving window for the delivery drivers, so people visiting the shop in person can actually get in and be served. They really have thought of everything.

The only downside is parking. This chippy is located on the high street and whilst there's street parking outside, there's not a lot of it and the road is very busy. Local residential roads near the shop aren't the best for parking either. So, if you're driving to this chippy, you take your chances or park on a nearby supermarket and have a bit of a walk - OR, let a food delivery service take the strain. Either way, it's well worth it if you fancy some of the best Black Country...

Here is an old hometown re-visit that has been worthy every single time of my service. The staff are ever so pleasant, great with communication and orders, the quality in their food and overall, personally, my experience was ever so delightful. Thank you to the lady that served me, gem! Compliments to all the chefs, food was so fresh and crisp yum!

Food was incredible, as it has always been, but must say it looked fantastic. Batter on the fish was so light and crisp, the chips were done perfectly too, food wasn't unpleasantly greasy, tastes and textures were exceptional.

I've always spoken highly of BCC to family and friends and today really had my company pleased. "they're really setting the standard" came from the partners relative, who has never experienced the wonder of orange battered chips before, or a kebab meat with those chips especially done this good!

If I can't convince you enough to visit here and give it a go, the deals and the stores design are eye catchers! - really recommend you check the family board deals, wow! With rising prices, BCC here in Great Bridge, is one truly stuck to my heart.
