Me and my colleague were working on the George roof all day on Friday... The staff and manager (Heather) were extremely hospitable.... Thank you !! This is a very popular pub, lots of regulars enjoying the food and atmosphere.... Dog friendly Phil was working the bar and no one was waiting long even during busy periods.. All in all The George seems a great place to meet, eat and enjoy some family time.. Fyi... there are multiple seating areas so if it's just a quiet pint and a read of your newspaper the back room is ideal for this too 😉 Thanks to Heather and the team for looking after us on Friday... It's very much appreciated (D) 👍😎

Visited today for the first time. Had drinks, meals and a pudding. The child menu I ordered was a good size for the price, but the fish fingers were a little well done. The haloumi salad bowl was good, but haloumi was a little too chargrilled for me, bit off tasting. However, the pudding was absolutely amazing, I'd go in just for that! Raspberry lemon meringue sundae. Staff were friendly and helpful - as the access key had gone walkabouts, a member of staff helped me get my pushchair in the ladies which was appreciated. Atmosphere was relaxed with TV and quiet music on. Would come back again 😊

I took my son to The George to visit the Easter bunny for breakfast. It was an amazing service. The breakfast was hot and well cooked. The Easter bunny was an incredible character. The staff have catered and organised a terrific event. When we arrived tables were already laid out with name reservations and an activity pack was set out on each table. We had lots of things to do as the bunny greeted everyone. I'd definitely recommend that people attend this event with their children in future Easter bunny visits.

This used to be my local to home, but since parents died and I moved away I haven't been in for some years. There were a few gents sitting drinking but not too busy. We ordered food and a drink. I hadxa salad with chicken and bacon and my brother had a lasagne from the Offers menu. Probably one of the tastiest salads I've ever had in a pub, didn't need mayo or salad cream. The lasagne looked good but I'm not allowed red meat at the moment. A few more diners came in. Service was swift and friendly and the young lady was happy to box up the remaining for my brother to.take home. I noticed that some doors could do with a lick of paint and some chairs need reupholstering. Let's keep this local gem up to scratch please. Another visit with my brother on a very cold January day. It was warm when we entered but there was a draft and my knees were cold! Not helped by smokers constantly going in and out! We enjoyed our food and I brought a meal home for my husband. It was quite busy for a weekday , good to see folks have money to spend in January. Staff are friendly and obliging. Would you consider selling decaff...

If your in the area you have to drop in, you wont be dissapointed in any way. All the staff are always so welcoming, friendly and accommadating on each of our visits. The food is second to non, the portion sizes are huge, you can share if your not a big eater. Heather who looked after us today was brilliant, she had my meal adjusted to help me. Her attention to our table service was excellent. Short wait for food , piping hot, excellent flavours, great value for money. Every employee makes you feel welcome, even the locals recognise us and chat away when we arrive now.

Highly recommend dropping in. Bev & Dave...
