The Red Lion - West Brom

Being a huge Wolves fan i wasnt expecting much from anywhere from within the West Brom area so its safe to say my expectations were low from the moment the establishment was chosen but i must say i was pleasantly surprised.

On arrival we were welcomed pleasantly and shown to the bar where other friends were already sat waiting. A huge selection of draught and bottle beers to choose from. A tad pricey though.

We moved into the restaurant where 9 of us were seated. This was a bit of a squeeze for the side that had 5 members dining. Maybe a small table could of been added to the end to accommodate.

There was a little bit of teething problems with ordering through the qr codes. Some phones wouldnt work however this was quickly resolved and we had a lovely pleasant waitress who took our order. Even the one diners order who kept changing his mind she kept a smile on her face.

Being a veteran to tikka night i now know to order more for the doggy bag to make fellow work colleagues jealous the next day. (One comment being - you coulda brought me some)

Large mixed grill - a massive selection of meats to pick from. I knew id have plenty for my meal and also to take back with me. The chicken tikka was spot on. Just the right amount of spices marinated inside. The sheesh kebab did have a kick to them so if your not into spices then stay away from these. What can i say about the chicken wings? Well these are hands down the best chicken wings iv ever had. Cannot fault them one bit

Cheese and garlic naan - a little bit overpowering on the garlic but as they say more is better. Great cheese pull. Slightly disappointed in the grease at the bottom of the basket but we can live with that

Massala sauce - that is the best massala sauce iv ever tasted. That will take some serious beating. Nothing else needs to be mentioned about this.

Masala chips - nothing to shout about really just your average chip with massala spices added. Nice to have a proper chip though and not fries

Overall a very pleasant outing and would fully recommend. Would definitely...

Had a great experience in the past so decided to visit with my work colleagues after work. There was some interesting incident outside near to the parking with fire brigade dealing with some incident which we have had no idea about. Parking today was quite easy to find as it wasn’t very busy and the awkwardness of the parking spaces is somewhat challenging at times. When we entered there was no one at the Host table and waited for few seconds till a very pleasant lady who might have been on a break or has not started her shift stood up from one of the tables and greeted us and gave us a nice corner sofa table in the main hall of the restaurant. It was quite quiet at the time, maybe around five tables in all. There were no menus available on the table and no one to ask for so i stood up and got some what take away looking menus and asked one of the staff working in the kitchen if these are the menus and he said: Yes. We looked at the menu and I would say it wasn’t the most extensive menu but had enough options. Dishes were on the pricier side as out total bill came up to £67.00 approximately excluding drinks, which were for around £7.00. All Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and ready to help us. Once we ordered we have to wait for good 45 minutes for the starters, I have had a feeling that they were not ready for shift. And was one of the issues I think they can get better at it. When the meal came it was all quite fresh and hot and portion sizes were good. Out main course arrived on time though and again was quite tasty and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though we were sitting next to the music speakers we were able to converse easily and it wasn’t overpowering. Toilets were quite clean. Apart from the speed of service and price it was overall good visit. Maybe preparedness, speed of service and price of items is something the restaurant can...

lovely looking place and has a really nice atmosphere.

however if you are looking for a mixed grill i would look elsewhere. there was four of us seperate for two of us we ordered the large mixed grill, masala chips and a keema nan with cheese. the other two ordered a large mixed grill poppadoms and a keema nan with cheese.

we were told we couldn’t have cheese inside and it would have to be on top. i have attached photos it came out and felt like it had been microwaved the keema inside was very very thin and had no flavour the cheese tasted very cheap and seemed microwaved on top. lithos slap came just as a whole nan bread not cut up it looked like a pizza. i had to ask them to take it back to cut so we could even attempt to eat it.

the large mixed grill is 26 pound it was basically a large mixed platter of chicken tikka. it comes with two fish pakora one lamb chop one sheesh kebab and one chicken kebab so e couldn’t even each have one lamb chop. but it came with about 15 pieces of chicken tikka and two chicken wings.

any place i have eaten before is usually a minimum of two pieces of each as it says it caters up to 3 people. would be impossible unless you really like chicken tikka.

on top of that ut was dry and flavourless. the fish was ok but nothing to rave about.

the masala chips were really good but other than that i can honestly say it’s one of the more exspensive places i have been and i wouldn’t go back.

after trying to tell the kitchen we were not impressed and asked about the portions the gentleman walked aaay from our table without a care in the world. refused to do anything about it said this is just how they do it.

the gentleman behind the bar was a lot more professional and offered us a round of drinks.

would go for drinks but i really wouldn’t bother with the food. it’s a shame as used to be amazing when i used to go...
