We had a meal at The 3 Idiots, Troon last night as we wanted to support a local business. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience from booking onwards. Whilst taking the booking over the phone the man was abrupt and monosyllabic. After arriving, we were given a table in a booth that had a Happy Birthday sign hip -? from the afternoon and not taken down. The server (we assumed the same person on the phone) was abrupt, rude and deliberately spoke ridiculously fast like at the end of adverts when they give terms and conditions, and then rushed away. This was not funny or clever, but just gave the impression he wanted to get away as fast as possible and was not interested in customer service at all. We ordered from the tapas menu and it took 1 hour for our food to arrive and when it did it was not great. The mushroom fried rice was so oily I could only eat half of it. The chicken dishes were all really rubbery and overcooked. The food was clattered down on the table and the serving staff did not smile or offer offer any courteous behaviour at all. None of our empty drinks glasses or bottles were cleared away when additional drinks were brought over and just piled up at the end of the table. I noticed the same happening to the nearby tables. The restaurant was not full to occupancy and a nearby table was left uncleared for the entire time we were there - 1845 - 2115. It was a dreadful experience and we will...
Read moreFantastic food! As tasty as you want and clearly freshly cooked to order. Upon being seated we learn that the food is 'tapas' style and it takes our party of four considerable time and frustration trying to juggle the various menu options to suit everyone but we got there in the end. The young staff are a work in progress and need more in the way of training. One young lady advised us against ordering 'too much' rice on the grounds that it was 'very filling'. Another lady advised us not to order one of two draught beers on the grounds that 'I don't like it'. My starter was delivered with the main courses, the plates arrived cold after the food was served in various pots. and we were continually being asked if we 'enjoyed our meal' which I find annoying, unnecessary and unprofessional. For this reason, I knocked off one star.
However, the food is the star here and it really is first class. Well worth a visit but do bear in mind the 'tapas' theme and if you want the items as a 'main' dish the price doubles although it doesn't say that on the menu. Highly...
Read moreWent 4/11 approx 18:15 and place was mobbed, told there was no table and to leave a phone number and they would call when one was available. You cannot book unless for a party of six or more, but believe this is going to change. Waited in car for about 10 minutes and got the phone call, table ready. At this point I will say that the food is excellent, and everyone should have some of the garlic naan in their life, but the service is absolutely terrible. Slow or forgotten about does not even come close. And yes I appreciate the place is new and it's all a learning curve, but come on folks you need to do better. Had the service been good I would have given five stars but because it was poor I'm marking it down a point. Would we go back, definitely, but will have to leave it a while, which is unfortunate, until they find their feet.
I'm missing the garlic...
