The Poppy Room — Restaurant in Scotland

Visited our favourite dog friendly cafe in Troon today. Popular as ever with three other well behaved dogs. Service was prompt and staff cheery, prices are good. Sat beside a middle aged couple at the next table. Male smiled at us and our dachshund as we sat down, however, the lady was rather more solemn. We gave our dog his dinner from his bowl on his mat, also fed him a few treats. When the couple went to pay the lady complained to Jackie, the manageress, about the dog next to her table, there was one on the other side of her table. She said it was fed from the table and other comments.We found this out because, Jackie, rightly so, came up and spoke to us about the points raised and she also spoke the group at the next table with the dog about the same points. It is a dog friendly cafe and we, along with many others, enjoy visiting. We will continue to go to this lovely cafe. If people do not want to have dogs beside them and I understand this, then do not go to a dog...

Met our friends today for lunch at the Poppy Room we booked a table weather outside was wet cold and windy went inside to be met by a sour faced woman who told us to wait outside while she wiped our table no warm welcome. Our friend went back inside to explain that we had booked a table the place was not busy only a couple of tables occupied. Sour faced woman eventually motioned for us to enter and pointed out our table. After we got settled we noticed that the door was left open so I got up to close it over not thinking that it was to ventilate for Covid - that I totally get but what I have issue with was the attitude of the staff member who was very rude and arrogant towards me. If I had been on my own I would have walked out but did not want to make a fuss as we were with our friends. Rest assured we will NEVER be back. Where to start Positive- managed to get two tables for 7 without booking.oat milk available. What Needs to be reviewed 1/ The vegetable soup was 95% potatoes which took 20-30 min to arrive and 15 min after others food. Soup was tasteless with potatoes with black bits and some skin. I could not eat the soup and due to state and lack of taste no one else would. I did advise the young girls that soup was disgusting. 2/ asked for no coleslaw for two people and it came mixed with salad. 3/ others received small salad and others large 4/ omelette lukewarm 5/ asked for tap water and one table recieved jug and other table one glass.
