Sun shining day out in Culross today being enjoyed along with lots of others who chose this destination. Came across Bessies cafe which had tables outside which were spaced out and cleaned down when people vacated them. We approached the hatch to order our drinks and met with a friendly team member who explained the various cakes and pastries on offer not to mention the fresh loch fyne oysters available today so not your usual cafe menu. We had just popped in for a coffee and decided to choose the almond croissants to go with it. Seriously have not tasted a better almond croissant ever...delicious with great coffee to match. A lovely unexpected surprise to taste such quality coffee and pastry. One to try...enjoy!

Tue. 2.4.24. The gates into the lovely Orangey T room were closed, so i carried on to Bessie's cafe & ventured in at ten to one. I've been there yrs. ago. It's a wee bit dear but what I had was well worth it - so much so I had 2 bowlfulls of their lovely tasting soup. NOW they should have given me a small crane to lift their heavy black T pot 🤣 The waitresses that attended to me were all very nice. When I went up to pay the bill I noticed the 2 girls were smiling 😁 😊 Freya & Hannah who both said that it was ok to name them BUT one of them smiled a wee bit more than the other. So that's another incentive to visit that old type of inn with the wooden beams & find out for yourselves.

The surroundings are stunning and this quaint little cafe didn't disappoint as a spot for recharging the batteries after exploring the coast. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the cafe itself warm and cosy. Coffee delicious, cakes more so. We even managed to grab ourselves some day before scones for a reduced price to take home and they were really tasty after a heat up in the oven. Would like to return to try the food menu at some point.

Initially stopped in for lunch. Staff where unhelpful. Told 10 min wait for lunch as busy. Which is fine completely understand. So we ordered coffee. I went back in to for an ice cream for my daughter. Staff where miserable and more interest in Staff conversation than customer service. I finally was able to order. We left thinking Staff may just been deflated from a possible rush. My husband later, then went back to order a soup , to eventually again get the attention of the staff who then said she will be with him in two minutes, to then move into the kitchen where my husband could visibly see her chatting and on her phone. Resulted in leaving with a hungry toddler as much as they clearly did not care we equally did not have the patience for terrible service. Customer service generally shocking from Staff who clearly just dont care or select their choice in customers. Toilets also ill maintained, bins over flowing, blown lights, wet flooring. Disappointing for a lovely building and...

Visited this afternoon at 1615 I was surprised to find it still open most establishments close at 1500-1600. We were promptly served by the owner and his lovely assistant. We had a hot chocolate and a, scone to share. The drink was piping hot.... Often I have to send hot chocolate back as it is lukewarm. The scone was delicious just as I like it a wee bit crunchy and there were liberal quantities of butter and jam on both pieces. The service was prompt with smiles and great friendliness. There, was ample suitably distanced room to sit outside under 2 separate gazebos. We were able to use the disabled toilet which was basic but very clean with plenty of paper hand towels soap and sanitiser.. I have always used this coffee shop when taking visitors to tour round the Palace. A, perfect well run local business who will survive the pandemic. It is closed on Tuesdays...

This was our first time in Bessie's Cafe Sunday 28th July 2024, well worth a visit it's a little Gem of a Cafe in Culross with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, I liked the interior (wooden beams and art on display) 🧘‍♀️🩷☕️🍽

Me and my mum both had soup of the day (Tomatoes, mixed beans) was a big bowl of good hearty soup with a hint of spices not overly spicey personal preference. Cheese scone was delicious I could taste a hint of tumric witch I liked and what I also enjoyed was there was no taste of baking powder and any of that coating that some scone's can leave on your mouth.

Quite a good selection of hearbile tea's i had Lemon and Ginger if this is not your cuppa no worries as other drinks are available. The coffee smelt delicious I'll be having one of them along with one those delicious looking cake's 🤤 the next...
