A nice lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We both had a soup and a sandwich/toastie. I went for the cheese, ham and chilli jam. My girlfriend went for the tuna and cucumber. The soup of the day was lentil. It was good but not amazing. Perfectly adequate. Lacked a little bit of seasoning. My toastie was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately my girlfriend ordered a sandwich but was given a toastie which was not ideal. All in all though a nice play. Would go back

Stopped here for lunch as part of our weekend visit to Scotland to catch up with relatives. The food here is well cooked, well presented and served by very friendly and attentive staff. I was really impressed with their children's menu which had lots of variety and many healthy options which you don't see elsewhere. Their food is locally sourced too. Well worth a try. I look forward to a return visit.

Absolutely amazing food. Lovely selection of food too. Staff were really helpful and accomodating of the baby. Definitely recommend the food, especially the cinnamon buns.

I have been here many times, I have noticed that cake is not your normal cafe, it is a hub for the community and a place where people feel at home and safe. The same people (including myself) come back time and time again for the consistently fabulous cakes and the personal welcome. The staff get to know your name, they get to know what coffee and cake you like, on a bad day ill go in and all they say is "the usual?" and I feel relaxed.

The food is simply fabulous. I spoke to the lovely owners and they try to source as locally as they can. The bread is delivered every day, the scones and cakes are baked every day and there is a fabulous selection of gluten free and vegan products.

The cafe is busy, there will be kids. That's just the kind of cafe it is. It's open to everyone and there may be noise! But I love that. It's full of life! I find it surprising that people knock a cafe down for this.

Thank you cake, keep doing what...

I wouldn't go in if you don't like kids screaming and shouting. Great if you have kids though.

Prices are a rip off. £9 for a toastie, £4.95 on menu apparently for takeaway, (extra £4 plate and handful of crisps.) Bonnie Badger in Gullane is cheaper and their owner has Michelin stars!

Service was also really slow. Took 15mins to make two lattes. Several take outs in came in after us and were served promptly while customers sitting in left to wait.

I've worked in hospitality for 30 years, I've never come across staff so slow. I'm guessing they're kids/friends of owners, wouldn't get away with it in a professional...

boyfriend and I were driven out of the place due to being uncomfortably stared at the short time we were there. Came in, greeted hesitantly and we sat down to think about what to get. However it was impossible to concentrate as a very young girl behind the till would not stop staring at us, never turning to look away. I get wanting to make sure we were okay but I expect to be left if I’ve locked eyes uncomfortably several times. Awful experience, truly uncomfortable. Found lunch elsewhere in the high street with better value for money and much...
