Chimes — Restaurant in Scotland

We were extremely disappointed with the service and food here when we last visited. We had reserved a table for 6pm as we had two toddlers in our group and we didn't want to delay their bed time by too much. There were only a few patrons dining in but a steady flow of food was being provided to folk asking for take away food. The drinks order was slow to be taken and provided. The starters took a long time to be brought out and tidied away. We asked about our main meals at 7.30 and again at 7.40. They were eventually brought out at 7.50 by which time we were all fed up. I had ordered a crispy duck dish which when it arrived was very disappointing with the fat not being rendered down and was very unpleasant. The manager Graham was spoken to about the poor service but apart from an apology about the time everything had taken nothing was offered to encourage...

After visiting the restaurant I was looking forward to trying take away however now sitting at home wondering how the take out food could be so poor in comparison.

A warm welcome on arrival and invited to sit in a bar like area to wait. I was kept up to date on progress.

Ribs - about 3% meat and a sauce that looked like and had the consistency of passata (with bits of noodle stuck throughout).

Chicken Balls - chicken with the strangest consistency, as if not fully cooked but definitely was. Maybe overcooked?

Koon Po Chicken with batter so light it was near non existent and compared to other take aways in area, the smallest of portions. It also lacked the usual veg, minimal sauce and the same horrible chicken.

Curry sauce again had a strange consistency but tasted okay.

So disappointed as did find the restaurant food nice. Wish we'd stuck with our...

Food was great but the restaurant was a wee bit cold inside. Understandable considering energy costs at the moment.

Visited again more recently and the food was great as you would expect at Chimes. However, we waited almost an hour and a half for our main course which was a bit longer than you would expect. It was really busy both in the restaurant and takeaway and I think the kitchen was swamped with orders.

Good to see local restaurants with good...
