My partner and I entered the restaurant during our lunch break, hoping for a quick and pleasant meal. Upon arrival, there was no one at the entrance to greet or seat us, and with the restaurant nearly empty—only two or three tables occupied—we assumed it was fine to seat ourselves at a booth.
As we sat down, a tall man approached, and I asked politely if it was okay for the two of us to sit there. His curt response: "Looks like it." Not the warmest start, but we brushed it off.
A few minutes later, he returned with menus and, in a noticeably rude tone, said, "Next time, you need to wait at the entrance." I explained there was no one there to seat us and asked if seating ourselves caused any issue. This visibly annoyed him, and his response was condescending: "I won't sit there all day; I have other customers."
I clarified that we were in a rush due to our lunch break, which is why we seated ourselves. Instead of understanding, he replied, "I may not be able to serve you fast enough as I am alone today." For context, there were only a couple of tables being served at the time.
I calmly asked if he was managing the entire restaurant alone or if there was staff in the kitchen preparing food. He became defensive, called me "rude and arrogant," snatched the menus from our table, and refused to serve us. We were asked to leave, stunned and humiliated.
Never in my life have I encountered such appalling behaviour from a waiter. His lack of professionalism, patience, and basic customer service was shocking. To be clear, this review is not directed at the restaurant itself but at the waiter who failed miserably to represent it.
Ironically, we ate here the previous night, and the experience was entirely different—great food and friendly, responsive staff. It’s disappointing that a single individual could tarnish what was otherwise a decent establishment.
As a result of this incident, we had no choice but to order Uber Eats, cutting into our already short lunch break. If Google allowed zero stars, that’s exactly what this waiter would get.
Beefeater, I hope you address this because such rude staff drive...
Read moreVisited tonight as a treat and it was a total disappointment. My wife ordered gammon steak which was very good. I ordered sirloin steak well done and it arrived red/pink inside when cut open. I politely sent it back to the kitchen to be cooked more, however I overheard the female chef saying it was nearly done and just to put it in the big oven for a few minutes. When it arrived back it was no better and this time I asked for the manager, who agreed that the steak was not cooked well done. He said he would get it sorted but by this time my wife was halfway through her meal and I didn’t want to have chef asked to cook it again for a second time, especially given her dismissive attitude the first time I sent it back. Once again, from where we were sitting I could hear the manager telling chef the steak was not cooked properly but she didn’t agree, even when he protested. Her last word seemed to be it’s not the whole steak , only a small part of it. My wife (who could also hear chefs comments), wanted to confront the chef but I asked her not to. I was asked if I’d like to choose something else from the menu but by then my wife was nearly finished so I declined. The manager and server were very apologetic. My meal was removed from the bill and we were both offered complimentary deserts but we declined. Our evening was spoiled and we just wanted to leave. Based on this visit I would not recommend this restaurant. Being a beefeater, I thought they would be experts in cooking steaks but obviously they are not. Chef couldn’t seem to understand what well done actually meant. Well done steaks should not be pink and definitely not red...
Read moreWill never be back. Food is disgusting. Couldnt provide all food together hot i legit went up to the bar and said "any chance i can actually get a hot meal" and proceeded to leave my plate on the bar. They also gave completely wrong meal to my sister. Only thing they got right was the kids meal. Young lad couldnt be any nicer ie waiter staff, even said his own dad wouldnt be happy or amused by my food and experience within the restaurant. The place had a high pitch buzzing sound that went right through mine and waiter staff ears, wich managment said "oh what sound, i cant hear it" like they didnt even hear it. I have sensory so i couldnt cope with the sound. They Served undercooked items , had missing items and over all absolutely rank! I swear id never go back but i thought after many months and with the beefeater in town being fully booked and really busy i was prepared to give this one another chance. Honestly regretted going. Was a complete and utter disaster. I left most of my food on my plate and thats not like me tbh, as did the table next to me, wich same waiter noticed. Felt sick the next day! This place honestly triggered my anxiety. Young lad took 1 meal off the bill wich i appreciated. I had to go back in as they had charged me for a side wich was ment to be a swap as i normally do swap the tomatos and mushrooms for small beans and theyres never normally an issue in other store. So i got my refund. Just aswel i double checked the bill. I Do Not recommend this place. Please go to the beefeater in dundee city center next to the discovery boat if u want a well cooked Hot...
