Having heard a lot about Jammy Piece we decided to stop by for a drink and some food. We ordered two flavored hot chocolates and a breakfast roll.
The cafe was busy so the slight wait to get served was understandable. The wait for our order was a little excessive and the roll was served 5 minutes before the drinks, where the member of staff serving the roll did not even know we had drinks to accompany the roll and had to ask us if there were drinks.
When we received our full order the drinks were delicious and the bacon roll was enjoyable, maybe a little dry but that could have been because the butter melted into the roll whilst waiting for the drinks.
There are some interesting items on the menu so we may go back to try them but there are better value breakfast rolls to be found in town. For the initial price you get one filling and every additional filling will cost 95p so for a 3 filling roll, if you like a big breakfast, it's over £5. Most other establishments give you 2 fillings for the initial price with the cost of the additional filling keeping it below £5.
A minor grumble but I do like my fillings as my belly will tell you 😁.
Give it a shot and see if you like it. Hopefully our next experience is...
Read moreFantastic menu with great service. My wife and I came to the Jammy Piece as my mum has been raving about it for months, so we ventured in today and we were not disappointed. We were quickly seated then ordered off the menu 2 x all day breakfast which my wife asked if a few things could be changed and they had no problem in accommodating us. The portion size is perfect and I for one am pretty hard to please when it comes to a cooked breakfast especially when it comes to haggis and Stornoway black pudding, the plate was cleaned in a matter of minutes with every mouthful enjoyed. Jammy Piece is clean and tidy where you can see into the kitchen which was very busy and kept clean as they went along. The service was excellent with a smile and a pleasant good bye. I would recommend you visit but be quick as it's quite busy. We will be back with friends and family (I might even take my mum 😉) Thank...
Read moreBest meal, cup of coffee, and service that I've received in my trip all over Scotland! I was greeted by friendly staff then served the best cafe mocha I've ever had in my entire life. They have a full espresso setup and the barista has obviously acquired some skills over the years. Then I ordered the traditional Scottish breakfast, vegan style. Vegan haggis, hash browns, potato scone, vegan sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, and toast. Everything on the plate was cooked well and deliciously spiced. I've never had a traditional Scottish breakfast to compare it to, but my local friends said it looked up to par! Wonderful food and wonderful service all whilst the staff was being kind and generous to an unhoused man whom they allowed to sit at a table. Well done, Jammy Piece! You're a shining light...
