Searching for some gluten free places locally and this place came up with some reviews a while ago. We thought we would go in there and ask. Straight away we were greeted by a friendly waitress. She gave us completely confidence when asking about whether they do any food for coeliacs. She knew exactly what it was and how the food needed to be prepared to be coeliacfriendly. We sat down and she explained that they could make virtually everything on the mains, except the lasagna gluten free, even the pizzas. We asked about chips and they said straight away, unfortunately they are fried with other stuff so not okay. We asked about sides and they said they could make a garlic bread pizza on a gluten free base. The food here was amazing, the pasta was great and the pizza even better. The garlic bread pizza was incredibly cheesy. To top it off the prices here were so reasonable! All of this food and drink cost us under £35! You will not find such good food for low cost anywhere nearby. Recommended for any coeliacs travelling around this area.

We always love a visit to La Taverna if we are up in Aviemore, the whole ambiance, theming and food is just a total win. I would always advise booking ahead of time as they can book up really fast and just a note: during the summer season they offer a buffet selection rather than table service, this all changes round at the end of October for the winter season. If you love proper Italian food, La Taverna is definitely the place to go: perfect for date nights, fuelling up after hiking/skiing or if you are just in the area and feel the need for pasta! The food is delicious, all homemade and served in very generous portions and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home, shoutout to Bethan who sorted out our reservation and arranged it all for us. It doesn't hurt the pocket too much either as there is always room for dessert right? La Taverna also offer takeaway options so ideal if you're staying at a nearby lodge or campsite and want to enjoy some pasta or pizza by the fire. Cant wait to be back for some more spicy pizza!

We were caravanning at Rothiemurches and decided to have an evening meal as a treat. The all you can eat buffet has gone due to staff shortages. Our family was a little disappointed with some of our meals. My carbonara was dry and the sauce, which should have been rich and creany was gritty and not much of it. To be honest, I think it had spent too long under a keep warm lamp. My wife's lasagne was good, she enjoyed it. She wanted another dish and asked for the spinach to be removed but was told that the sauce has already been made... My grandson's breakfast pizza was tasty though. We asked for garlic bread to share and was surprised by a thin pizza base with bits of garlic thrown over the top..it was very dry..no garlic butter at all. The staff were very friendly and professional. I think I'll give it a miss until it comes up to the pre-covid quality and offering. If you like pizza then you should be OK.

Went in for some food after camping for the previous few nights. The staff seemed really pleasant and friendly, all of them smiled as they passed and as they brought us our drinks, but unfortunately due to the lack of staff we were told we would only be able to have buffet food rather than freshly cooked food brought to us which was a shame.

Despite being really hungry we were unable to eat much of the food at all. The quality of the food was very poor, and may have even been microwaved or heated from frozen. It did not taste fresh, and many of the foods we tried tasted bland and flavourless. The pizzas were warm but you could tell they had been out for a while and the chicken on the pizza had a strange texture (again possibly microwaved). Additionally the pizzas were all combined onto plates with vegetarian and meat options almost touching. The garlic bread was incredibly similar to a frozen supermarket garlic baguette. The puddings looked dry and we were so fed up, so we decided to leave without bothering to try them.

The inside itself didn’t feel welcoming and we were cold where we sat. The prices were wildly exaggerated for the experience we had, I would have been uncomfortable spending £15 for the food but the £22 price was very extreme especially given the poor quality.

We saw the menu beforehand and expected to pay about £16 for a fresh pizza so for the buffet to cost £22 for food that was not freshly cooked and bland was almost insulting.

I have been eating the same packaged camping food for 2 meals a day for the last 3 days. These meals are awful but easy and efficient. To anyone looking at going to this restaurant I would advise you to either buy a ready meal from a supermarket, have a camping meal, or go to a different restaurant as all of these would be preferable. I would not recommend this...

Really unhappy. We specifically asked if the restaurant catered for vegans as one party member is vegan. When we came to order we were pleased with the options catering for all our party. (3 meat eaters 1 vegetarian 1 vegan) we asked for the one pizza to be vegan. We were told the base could be vegan but no vegan cheese. We asked what the options were then. We were offered a vegan salad with chicken or salmon on it! We settled for just a plain salad with nothing on. Food came, kids pizzas were OK. The salad was OK although we were initially charged £11 for! Bolognese was made from tinned/corned beef and was the worst we have ever tried. Even husband couldn't eat and he eats anything and hates waste. Garlic bread was soaking with grease and none of us could eat. Pasta was cold and sauce was horrible. We love Italian food, this was not pleasant. Worse issue was after being asked if everything was OK and we explained the lovely gentleman offered to help and genuinely seemed to care. However the female who I assume was the manager was unhelpful, argumentative and confrontational. Avoid especially if you like proper Italian food. The only positive was the waiters were very friendly. Don't ask your customers if they are happy if you're not prepared for a respectful...

Came here for a family dinner while staying at the nearby MacDonald's lodges.

We were informed that they only had a buffet available. I'm vegan, so this can often be a problem, but we thought we'd give it a shot.

They had a wide range of interesting, tasty, and varied salads (lentil, cous cous, orzo, Bulgar wheat) and there was a sheet above the salad bar with them all listed along with ingredients and allergies, so you could see what was what. I've been in fancy vegan cafes that haven't had as good a selection!

They had one vegan option on the pasta, of 6, again, clearly labelled. To be honest, the salads were so tasty and substantial, I'd have been happy with them alone!

We had a problem with our drinks, and it was sorted immediately - these things happen but they dealt with it quickly and with apologies.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful and it was a really lovely visit.

Kids were absolutely delighted and are not vegan, so sampled most available options of pizza. They loved the little portions of various puddings and the self-serve ice-cream.

Would definitely recommend this place, especially if you have specific dietary requirements and need to please...
