Mambos — Restaurant in Scotland

Usually go here every time we visit aviemore and have the best time and enjoy some great drinks but this time and the last time was met with the worst reception. One specific staff member was very combative initially, we politely asked for espresso martinis and were abruptly told they don’t serve them despite having them for years in the past. Another staff member very kindly offered to make them and was cut of by said staff member who continually proclaimed “they are not on the menu”. Said staff member was then very rude and approached us loudly stating in response to my partner explaining we’ve had them in the past and asking if they could accommodate “ you’ve no had them here” and then “ when did you last have them here then? Cause you’ve no had them this year” . Was not welcoming and very rude. Extremely off putting and won’t be back on account of the staff member who was extremely combative and rude, not sure if he was the manner but his hospitality skills need serious work. To the staff member; there was no need for that approach, attitude or tone of voice. You were attempting to argue with us for simply stating we had, had them in the past. It’s a bar, you sell drinks. All you had to say was respectfully guys we don’t do them anymore sorry. End off. No need to be so aggressive. FYI, the staff member was Scottish younger and with short blonde hair working today around this time. I’ll be dropping by to speak...

We were treated so rudely by one of the staff we literally had to just walk out.

4 of us popped in last Thursday late afternoon and asked for some cocktails. For reference we've been in there many many times over the years and drank cocktails there. After we were very abruptly declined I asked if there had been a change as we'd been in loads before and been served them. The staff member tried to tell me I had not.

At that point the other guy on the bar, another young gentleman, possibly European said that he was happy to make them. But the first guy had an attitude about that too.

I said it wasn't a big deal and we could just have other drinks, we had specifically asked for a cocktail as they had been good in the past thats all. My attempt to smooth things over got even more comments and attitude from the staff member.

The level combativeness of the young Scottish staff member was unlike any treatment Ive ever received in a venue. It was so bad I genuinely thought he was trying to start a fight with me. And since it was a mixed group I wasn't going to let him speak to me or my partner like that. Let alone give him my money.

If you're in town looking for drinks or food Id avoid here and instead go to Cheese & Tomatin, or The Balavoulin. Both great!

And if you're the owner of Mambos, that guy is going to ruin...

We had a really nice lunch at Mambos and we're impressed by the number of vegan options, I was even surprised to see vegan mac n cheese as not many places tend to offer that. Sadly I had just had that the nught before for my dinner so decided to go with another choice. I went for the hot dog and was presented with a huge hotdog with a decent portion of chips to accompany it. Hotdog was very nice however I think (didn't confirm) it was a gluten free roll which slightly let down the overall taste of it. I know that it's easier to cater for several dietary requirements in one meal so I am pleased they are considering everyone but was just my personal preference.
