A Warm Retreat at The Masonic Arms, Gatehouse of Fleet.

Nestled in the heart of Gatehouse of Fleet, The Masonic Arms stands out as a charming haven with a character that makes it more than just a pub – it's a destination. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed, and I couldn't resist sharing the highlights.

The moment you step into The Masonic Arms, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The log burning fire creates a cosy setting, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration. The ambience is both welcoming and intimate, setting the stage for a delightful experience.

The culinary offerings at The Masonic Arms are nothing short of a treat for the taste buds. The delicious food on the menu caters to various preferences, with each dish expertly prepared and bursting with flavour. From hearty pub classics to more refined options, the menu is a testament to the kitchen's commitment to quality and taste.

The drinks selection at The Masonic Arms is impressive, offering something for every palate. Whether you're a fan of craft beers, fine wines, or expertly crafted cocktails, the well-stocked bar ensures you'll find the perfect libation to complement your evening.

For those seeking a bit of friendly competition, the pool table adds an extra layer of entertainment. It's a great way to spend time with friends or make new acquaintances while showcasing your skills.

While The Masonic Arms also provides rooms for guests, I personally didn't have the opportunity to stay overnight. However, the availability of accommodation adds an extra layer of convenience for those looking to extend their visit and fully immerse themselves in the charm of Gatehouse of Fleet.

In conclusion, The Masonic Arms in Gatehouse of Fleet is a true gem. The cosy atmosphere, delectable food, diverse drink selection, and added entertainment options make it a standout destination. Whether you're a local seeking a welcoming pub or a traveler looking for a delightful retreat, The Masonic Arms is...

We stopped here for our evening meal. Teenagers can be awkward with eating out, but the friendly team were very helpful in getting us what we wanted and adjusting the meals accordingly. I had the West Coast scallops after the special of the day tomato and basil soup. The soup was sublime with a gorgeous flavour. Scallops are a difficult dish but it was presented and cooked to perfection with complimenting black pudding lemon served in a light but delicious pesto sauce. My wife had the lam shank, , this too was beautifully presented and tasted delicious attributed with a fine selection of freshly cooked vegetables. My fussy son had the masonic burger and with the few requested adjustments ate all. I was impressed. My daughter had the ceasar salad and she enjoyed it thoroughly, in fact there was a generous serving on her plate. For a family 2 adults and 2 Teenagers it cost £87. I expected to pay much more, so this meal was absolutely fantastic value for money. I would certainly return and definitely recommend to anyone unsure of where to dine out. Competition in the food industry is very intense in this area but they performed a 4 star meal in my opinion with the simple selective menu and fantastic offer for specials. The staff are very friendly and accomodating to people palate preferences. The service was prompt and all the team worked coherent with one another. Lovely atmosphere which would probably entice me to stay in the place for a short break in the future. Highly satisfactory...

I paid £105 for B&B on a Friday night, albeit in the 'off' season for holidaymakers to Dumfries and the hotel was quiet.||The room (No.2) was completely refurbished, inc. the en-suite which had a invigorating rain-shower. The large bed for was comfortable and there were two armchair from which you could watch the TV. WiFi speed was good at around 50Mbps, some of the wall sockets also had USB sockets to recharge phones. The décor was nice with deep greens and maroon.||Some quirks I noted included lack of wardrobe, instead there were hangers on metal pipes. Also, a bedside table was what you might call a washstand with ceramic bowl in the top. Clearly they don't expect business people to stay, so there's no desk in the room but neither is there a fold-out luggage rack, so cases stay on the floor. Also, I noted no biscuits were provided.||The rooms have nice high ceilings and in summer, the casement windows can be opened for fresh air and there's no air con. The stair up to the rooms is quite steep but there's a secure banister.||As mentioned, the rooms are over the pub and music was distinctly audible until closing time. The rooms face the street, but it's very quiet. Talking of the street, parking is available in front of the hotel but there's no secure off-street parking.||Breakfast is served in the pub and was nice, I went with the Masonic Grill which is a full Scottish by another name.||All in all, pretty good but I didn't think quite justified more than...

Absolutely appalling customer service from the owner. For the past 5 months, we've enjoyed our time at the pub – great food and excellent staff, except for the owner. However, my recent experience was highly disappointing. I ordered a children's chicken dinner for my dog, which the bar staff confirmed was fine and in a joking manner, advising me not to feed her from the plate When the meal arrived, I placed it in a dog bowl and began cutting it into smaller pieces. The owner's response was completely unacceptable. She shouted across the bar, making me uncomfortable, and then came within inches of my face to drill me for what I’ve done, telling me I’m not in my living room. A piece of advice for Sophia: treat the locals as kindly as you do the tourists. If two staff members told me it was okay to feed my dog, there's no reason to shout at me. And for those still reading this review, be cautious about sitting before 6 pm. She approached us at 5:50, cleared the menu we were reading for our 6pm order. She proceeded to inform us this table is now reserved and then pointed out 5 other tables we also can’t sit at. She eventually allowed us to sit at the table under the T.V. We ended up eating there, only for her to remove the reserved sign from our original table and casually remark, "You could have sat there, oh well." I don't know how things are done in Spain, but here in the UK, we value kindness, especially when you're representing your own business. Sincerely, Louis x

Booked a table here to have a meal on the last night of our holiday. We had our little dog with us so was seated in the bar area. Our dog is a very small 14 year old Yorkshire terrier so I carry a little bed and blanket for her to sit on when we go out. A member of staff came and told us she wasn’t allowed on the furniture and had to go on the floor. The day before we had been in for a drink and she had sat on the furniture just the same for over an hour and nothing was said. (See photos) The area is either dog friendly or it’s not, simple as. Dog incident aside, we felt extremely uncomfortable with the FIVE members of staff stood around the reservation ‘podium’ to the side of the bar talking and watching over our every move. Over staffed or under managed possibly? Having read another review relating to dogs in the pub I gather you market the pub/ restaurant as a ‘High end’ establishment. I have to wonder whether waiting on staff wearing pink crocs and Nike trainers and bar staff chewing gum is reflective of this? This put a dampener on the evening as we had planned on staying for dessert and further drinks. The food was excellent so compliments to the chef but front of house leaves a lot to be desired.
