MJ's Brasserie — Restaurant in Scotland

Asked specifically for the five bean chili, was instead brought meat chili without being told it was meat..!! Was only informed it was meat chili after asking the waitress to please double-check, because I was suspicious due to the smell and look of the chili - was told they had run out of bean chili and so had just decided to give me the meat one! Sorry but that's just not acceptable, I don't eat meat and my basis for this could have been religious or due to allergies etc. I should have been asked if meat chili was an okay substitute or told there was no bean chili left, which would have been totally fine - I would happily have ordered something else and waited patiently, it wouldn't have been a problem! As it was it was a close call :( in all fairness, they comped my replacement meal and drink, the meal was tasty and after saying I can't eat meat they made some fresh bean chili for me, and I am thankful for that. hence not giving a 1 or 0 star review. but for future, please don't try to give someone something different to what they ordered without asking or checking first, or without telling them! dietary requirements are...

Not impressed. While it was perfectly acceptable for me to have half portion of mince and potatoes on first visit (can't eat a lot - however, my husband had a normal size portion of his meal) when we returned 2/3 days later, different chef apparently who refused my request for half-portion(if I hadn't felt so unwell would have left immediately but we had no transport and my husband was hungry so no other alternative -and to my surprise, when my plate arrived, it was the same size portion of mince but a double helping of mashed potato! We shared a dessert + I had glass of wine and Steven had coffee. Definitely won't be back. Serving staff were lovely and girl who had served us on our first viisit was amazing but although she didn't say anything, I felt she was embarrassed at my request being denied -the meal was lovely just far too much and...

Nice little brasserie. Modern decor with a small outdoor space. Got the eggs benedict /BLT with mayo and cheese on a focachia bread/ chilli bowl/hot chocolate/ 2x cokes/ 2x cakes all for £43.
