Our Place Annan — Restaurant in Scotland

Visited with a guest on a spur of the moment Sunday evening visit. Great décor, a clean comfortable restaurant. The menu looked interesting with a choice of cocktails. As someone with coeliac it was good to see some choice. My guest enquired as to what was in a cocktail and the server didn’t know and had to refer the bottle. She also offered water for the table (which didn’t arrive) I went to the bar after some time to ask for water. I asked if the chips were fried in a dedicated fryer as I was coeliac. After enquiring in the kitchen, she confirmed they were (great!). I ordered Macaroni Cheese – when it arrived, I again enquired if it was gluten free – after checking with the kitchen the server said it wasn’t, so took it away, apologised and said the kitchen would prepare an GF version. The server seemed to an understand of what was GF and what wasn’t (good) Whilst waiting I ate some of my guests’ chips (tasty) When the replacement arrived it was ok however as eaten my guests’ chips, I couldn’t finish the pasta cheese. During our visit there appeared to by four serving staff although most of the time was spent looking at the booking screen on the bar. We left as soon as we could – Although the staff were apologetic if I hadn’t queried it may have been a different experience. It seems there has been training in food allergies however most staff appeared to be distracted. Absolutely loved this restaurant. It is beautiful decorated throughout. Love the quirky wallpaper in the toilets. The service was impeccable, lovely friendly lasses. The food was top notch. I highly recommend the risotto. The cocktails were lovely. The only slight niggle... I think the poached pair was quite small, it was more like half a pear cut in 2. The bed of biscuit crumbs I think was a chain brand biscuit. I think it should be homemade shortbread. I would of preferred the chocolate piece to be drizzled over the pear as I'm sure that is what the menu said. Please take this as constructive rather than a complaint. It would definitely be our first choice of restaurant if we visit that area again....

Brought my mum in for a birthday meal, there was a birthday card waiting for her on the table from the restaurant such a thoughtful and beautiful little touch! The staff were casual but smartly presented and very attentive nothing was too much trouble. We opted for the small plates both having the pate (it’s to die for) then I had a smash burger and my mums had pasta, both portions a great size and tasted amazing. The smokiness of the burger 👌🏻 I then had the tropical cheesecake it was so lite, creamy and refreshing. Would highly recommend everyone to give this place a try. A true little hidden gem in Annan 10/10 all round! Thank you for another amazing dining...
