In the pursuit of hunger after hiking and getting drenched in incessant rainfall at the lighthouse (niest point - must visit, btw), we were looking for an Indian restaurant (comfort food for us). The Indian restaurant was about an hour’s drive away. After reaching the destination, to our utter dismay, the wait was over an hour on a Wednesday evening! There goes the “wants” of life outside the window and now enters the “needs” for food. We immediately looked up our second comfort food - the “Za” otherwise known as Pizza! The only place closest to us was Pizza Jo To Go in a small town called Kyle. First thought that came to mind was that it’s a “to-go” place, hmm, but the immediate subsequent thought was to fill the tummies with real food and not the endless supply of chips and cookies. This no-brainer decision led us to PizzaJo with no expectations whatsoever (not having expectations has helped me immensely to not be disappointed at a later stage). We reached our destination - Pizza Jo in Kyle. The entrance looked like we were heading to someone’s house (turns out to be the owner’s parents’ house) and right in front of us was this small but cute pizza outfit. Despite being a to-go place, the owner, whose initials happens to be the same as mine - JK, has done an excellent job embellishing the place with a concept of fairies. This concept is highlighted through decorations, gargoyles, witches, fairies (of course), and everything that goes along with it making it one of the cutest outfits I’ve been to. Btw, there’s also outdoor sitting available. You take the pizza to go, and sit at the outdoor area while enjoying the decor. We proceeded to order the standard margarita. If you can make this well, then, well, you know what you’re doing and that’s exactly how the pizza was. JK knows what she’s doing. We then ordered other stuff as well and it continued to impress me. Do give it a shot for both the pizza and decor. I bet you won’t be...
Read moreStarting off with the food, we got the Mediterranean and the veggie. Both were absolutely delightful. Crust was not chewy and cooked through. The cheese, sauce and toppings were all fresh, crisp and refreshing. Everything was apparently sourced from a town over and delivered multiple times a week ensuring quality. The garden and ambience that they have setup here are bar none. If you have the opportunity to eat outside I implore you to do so, it is gorgeous. Overlooking the highlands with a carefully curated outside patio it is amazing. Seriously, go through the little garden they have set up if you can. They could start their own business in that alone. In regards to the service, Jolien was top notch. She was friendly, funny and a genuine joy to be around. Hearing her stories and telling her ours, we lost track of time. Even after closing she entertained us, showing her love for this place and her customers. Cannot recommend PizzaJo...
Read moreCould give minus one but it's not possible. No dogs signs are outside of the sitting area which made me assume I can wait on my partner with my dog near my car. When a man came over and said 'absolutely no dogs, what so ever on the premises' before I even managed to finish my sentence with 'i am sorry would it be ok to wait on my partner with the dog in the car' he turned around and walked away. What a sad, rude old man. Never had the chance to order anything, which is a shame because I don't care if the place is expensive if I can support a local business, what I am not going to support is a rude, unpleasant behaviour. I hope this person is going to find some happiness because it seemse like they are unhappy with their life and taking it...
