Have to give this place 5 out of 5 stars . From the service to the food and the restaurant itself it is far the best Italian around . I never got enough pictures to show and do the Santa Marina justice really as it was packed and this was on a Wednesday night at 7pm . This amount of people in the restaurant shows how good this place is . I got a starter of chicken liver with a chilli like gravy and honestly I could of eaten a bucket of these alone , they were that good . I also ordered the steak just to see how good the Italians can cook it and it was 100% on point . Cooked to perfection with loads of flavour , the only criticism might be it needed to be seasoned a little bit more before it was cooked but that's a little detail . The service was brilliant and with a smile also which makes a big difference. I recommend trying the Italian beer called Menabrae , its a proper beer on tap with great none bitter flavour , whish I could get a case of them . The restaurant when you come in is really clean and tidy and actually bigger than you think. I would definitely say if you are near Hawick or in Hawick and you are looking for an upmarket meal but with really good flavours, prices then dont waste your time looking for anywhere else but The Santa Marina . This place has it all and is a real credit to the Town of Hawick . Well done to the owner (s) , Chef's and all involved in keeping this little Gem of a place going. Will 100% definitely be back. 👏👏👏👏👏

We were recommended to come here, so I thought we’d try it out. We didn’t book due to it being a Sunday and the staff were great and found us a table straight away. Right away you felt at ease with the staff as they were friendly and chatty. We ordered and it didn’t take to long for the food to arrive, the smell of the food was amazing and I couldn’t wait to tea my Sea Bass. The kids had a calzone and a half portion of the main menu. The are the lot and loved it as did I !!! Would really recommend this amazing restaurant and believe in supporting a nice small business that have clearly got it al right.

Italian feel when walked in, staff very pleasant however food needs some improvement. Lacking flavour in all 3 mains. The calzone looked more like a cornish pastie. The pizza base was very heavy and chewy, the cheese filling had texture but no flavour. The fresh steamed brocoli stems was normal brocoli. The pizza was OK just needed a bit more of the cheese. The chef did pop out to another table and was speaking Italian but his nonna would disown him for what was cooked.

Not an inviting eatery, due mainly to manager who is sullen, doesn't welcome you , nor smiles. Food bland- unimaginative vegetarian dishes, which were limited in the pasta section. No pleasanteries by staff when we visited yet they happily chatted, joking with other diners. We were put at a table next to the kitchen, twice! We asked for a different table (booth or in a quieter area)on both occasions but they wouldn't give us the choice, made feeble reasons as to why we couldn't. Yet clearly the tables were vacant as they remained unoccupied during the whole time we were there. Manager wasn't polite or friendly, didn't ask if we enjoyed the meal. Only one member of their staff who was pleasant was a younger guy who was nice with us both times.

We went as we heard it was really good, but what a let down particularly on the second visit- the curt manner of the manager wasn't acceptable. No please or thankyou, no cheerful conversation , nothing! Glad we didn't leave a tip. Do not recommend...

Selected this place based on Google review scores of 4.6. Big mistake - by far the least appetising and least authentic Italian food I have had including the ones I cook. Extremely flavourless food - bruschetta was toast with tomato and some mozzarella on it, the veggie pasta had frozen peas as a veggie ( Mediterranean food needs fresh veggies) and of all things turmeric on the penne (maybe they thought I am Indian and hence put heaps of turmeric in). Olive oil had to be asked for but what was provided was not even virgin. I should have suspected something when I saw burgers on the menu but placed my faith on Google review scores. So in summary stay away if you want flavourful authentic Italian,, but if you just want to fill your tummy.... Go for it. Oops forgot to mention - the fresh orange juice came out of a Tropicana for sure... And not a mention that this was not fresh even though there of us on the table ordered fresh...
