I walked in and said I had booked online for three people at 3pm. Immediately, I lost hope in the service. "Do you have a confirmation email?" I look around the floor and see at least 50% of the table sitting empty. Common sense has clearly left the building. I try to find the confirmation email but can't find it. I tell them that. No response. The man dealing with us walks away. Another woman comes up. Same situation. I tell them that maybe their system has an issue because I clearly remember doing it. I sent a screenshot of the booking page to my mum after I made it but could t find the email. Not my issue. Clearly was an issue with their website/booking system.
This woman walks away and gets someone else. ANOTHER WOMAN COMES OVER! I have to explain all of this AGAIN. I said that I don't want to make an issue but can we just sit down or what?! Half of the tables are empty. "We need the table back for 4:30pm."
"Right, so an hour and a half? If I make another booking on the website which says tables are available again for 4:15pm for three people then can we stay?"
Eventually we get sat down.
I am bewildered as to how a restaurant/business can be ran according to this place if they didn't have a booking system? The internet. Can we please have a profitable attitude from a business please? Use your common sense.
Food was alright. Severely overpriced considering that my roast duck was as full of fat, the rice portions weren't even enough per person for my toddler nephew.
The service here is quite honestly disconnected. Waitress has horrendous breath. Barely understood me. Constantly repeating myself. Not relaxing. Not enjoyable. I sat down feeling unwelcomed and frustrated. Not actually wanting to give this place any money.
I will absolutely never be back. This is the only sit down Chinese restaurant in the area; this is the only reason it has custom.
I had been here once before about a year previous. I knew something had bugged me before and I was quickly reminded as to what it was before I even sat down.
The individuals in this place seriously need some training on their manners. The third woman I spoke with at the door when I first walked in, who I am assuming is the manager/superior is the least helpful, unpleasant woman I've dealt with in a long time.
As an owner of my own business, I never post undeserving negative reviews but it was a rotten experience.
I actually can't say enough unpleasant things about this place.
Don't waste...
Read moreVisited today with my partner for a birthday treat - and what a treat it was! Warm and friendly staff who successfully walk the line between attentiveness and being intrusive. Comfortable seating and pleasant decor, we particularly enjoyed the art pieces around the dining room. Service was quick, all drinks and meals were correct. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. We both have generous appetites, so ordered starters, mains and sides from the lunch menu - which offers fantastic value for money - as well as a bowl of crackers each. However l, despite loving the food, we soon realised we'd over ordered a touch, so would order less on subsequent visits, as the portions are well considered. My only regret was that I couldn't sample the attractive cocktails or the extensive and varied wine list, as I was driving. In terms of constructive criticism, finding we had been charged for tap water was a surprise. We ordered a soft drink and a beer, plus a water each for our meal, and noted a charge of 60p noted as 'dash x2' on our bill. I do not mind being billed for glass service when taking tap water (they don't clean or deliver themselves!), but a policy of advising patrons at point of order would be helpful, and serving it in larger glasses for those who have ordered a drink listed in the menu as well, rather instead of, would be welcome. This is not a staff or kitchen issue, however, and they can not be faulted as we had a lovely visit. We look forward to returning, and bringing friends and family along to enjoy a beautiful meal...
Read moreAs a chef and a keen consumer of oriental food especially chinese, i visited this place saturday 19th july for the first time. Lovely setting, service was adequate but the food was seriously a let down. I ordered the salt and chilly pork ribs as a starter they were severely dried out and were obviously days old and barley re heated. Then came the hong kong sweet and sour chicken with fried rice.. i could not tell the difference between the fried rice to the boiled rice served at the table next to me. The batter on the chicken was extremely elastic and chicken possibly the stringiest chicken ive came across. Supposed to come with spring onion in rice, i saw 3 bits..absolutely tasteless and the prices were not cheap. So your paying for the surroundings and the huge amount of staff. Surprising to me it was busy. Later found out its the only sit in chinese in larkhall and this maybe explains it..looking at other reviews i can only assume these people havent tasted quality chinese cooking.. although it does vary from region to region in china that does not excuse the poor quality of materials or execution. I will never be back to this place as i left as hungry as i did when...
