Where do I start? Service: despite asking twice, my latte has still not arrived.
Food; I ordered a chicken curry, which is the worst curry I have ever had. It tasted really weird and was exceptionally sweet. The chicken was grey, so I think that means it was either leg or thigh - cheap cuts. The curry was in a deep bowl, which was sat on a plate in a ring of rice, and I was given a knife and fork to eat it with. The bowl was too hot to hold, so I couldn't tip it out into the rice and was forced to add forkfuls of rice to the curry. Why couldn't it have been served all on the same plate?
I asked for a diet coke with ice and was told there is no ice but the drink is cold. It wasn't cold and I drank it straight down in one.
Service again. When I went to pay and had to tell the lady that I didn't get the latte and that the curry was horrible, she said "I wondered why you didn't eat it", but she still charged me for it. I paid £12.90 for an uneaten curry, a room temperature coke, and a pavlova.
The one star is for the pavlova, which was delicious. Would I recommend...
Read moreAs a shop it has an amazing amount of stock, and some of it quite nice. What's strange us the arrangement of seating at 4 different areas in the shop, two separate food counters and waitress service for the cafe. It is a very traditional, old school, home cooking kind of place. I had a baked potato with coleslaw and my partner had the all day breakfast. My baked potato had no butter salt or pepper, the "coleslaw" was just cabbage and carrots in mayonnaise! Sickly and flavourless. There was a tiny pot of side salad, no dressing. Sorry but definitely not be eating here again. Partners breakfast consisted 1 slice Lorne sausage, bacon, 2 fried eggs, half a tomato, 2 small mushrooms and a potato scone all swimming in grease, oh and beans in a wee pot which was too hot to handle (microwaved) We are everything as we were hungry but as stated earlier we won't be back. Decor needs brought into this century also. Dryer in ladies toilet not working, only option a roll off very thin toilet roll to dry your hands. NO DISABLED...
Read moreMy wife, 15 year old son & i ended up stopping in Girvan (whilst out for a leisurely drive this past bank holiday weekend) looking for a quaint wee coffee shop & decided to give Tartan & Tweeds a try. Unfortunately though (with the exception of 1 genuinely lovely lady assistant (sadly I never noted her name, personally, I'd have rated her 4 stars)) this was a BIG mistake, the design of the shop is CHAOTIC, the staff (with the 1 single EXCELLENT exception) were very unwelcoming/unfriendly, desperately slow & generally completely disinterested in serving/requesting or attending to us as customers. The food itself was average, though I really enjoyed my generously sized hot chocolate, & the price was reasonable but the service was between diabolical & virtually non-existent (with exception to the already mentioned genuinely lovely lady who I can only describe & vividly remember as frequently ending every sentence saying "love". I.e would you like some sauce "LOVE" Can I get you anything else...
