As our nearest food shop, we're regular visitors to both the store and Café. The previous 2 visits to the Café specifically have seen us leaving having had negative experiences, both times pertaining to an individual staff member. (Apologies if this isn't politically correct) A large-set lady with glasses. - The first occasion involved us being approached by said staff member to be told that my wife can't breastfeed in the Café as it is "illegal" My wife had begun the feed at this point and we'd made sure to tuck ourselves away in a booth to the far left of the café, out of sight of others. When I challenged her asking if she meant that it was a company policy rather than a legality, she admitted that it was a rule brought in by her manager and when I pushed her further for more clarity she simply walked away in a huff. - The second occasion involved us ordering a new coffee on the menu. A caramel pecan latte or something to that effect. The image on the self service machine clearly showed that it came with a whipped cream topping. I opted for Oat milk as it was for my wife and she prefers the taste. When it was delivered to the table, it came without the whipped cream and I instantly understood that of course they wouldnt naturally apply a dairy based item to a drink that includes an Oat substitute. So I approached the barista and asked for whipped cream to be applied explaining that the Oat milk was simply a preference. He kindly obliged and took the drink from me to apply the cream. In comes the staff member with glasses who very rudely takes it out of the barista hands and places it back in front of me. She tells me that they are not allowed to apply the cream because it was ordered with Oat milk? I once again explained that it is simply a taste preference but she stuck to her guns and refused to apply the whipped cream. I asked to speak to a manager but she said "I am the menager today" I must admit that I felt rather angry at this point and I asked for clarity, as the notion of refusing to simply add whipped cream to a coffee was obsurd. Her reply was "you can either drink it or leave" I've honestly never encountered a staff member like it and if it wasn't for the food having already been placed on the table, I'd have asked for a refund and walked away. Needless to say, we'll not be returning for risk of having to learn of another newly implemented "policy" the hard way. No less from the single rudest Tesco employee that I've ever encountered. A minor "extra" - The poached eggs we received were seemingly hard boiled.

Our usual stop off on our holiday up north and breakfast a disaster. Ordered smashed avocado on toast. White bread, rather than sourdough. The main issue was that someone in the kitchen had splattered loads of harsh, dried chilli on top making the whole thing inedible. The 'waiter' when this was brought to their attention said "that's how it comes. Is that OK" "No" said I. And was met with utter indifference. I expect better from (checks notes) Tesco Cafe. Ah...

The meals were okay but the description of a half chicken sounded better than what it was, it was a very small chicken with more bone than meat. The wife had a Malay dish which seemed good and wonderfully spicy. Wasn't too impressed with the request for a noodle dish for the bairn as the noodles seemed not so many and disappeared amongst the vegetables. The breaded chicken was fine which the bairn enjoyed. The bit that irked me was I'd asked for fizzy water for the bairn and got a sealed clear plastic container of tap water which after pointing it out just left it as it was. I went and paid cash at £42 which I thought was a bit heavy for what we'd received and as she took the money she shot off to serve someone else at a table and I didn't get my receipt, I was left wondering if I was charged for the tap water. A not so okay experience, a learning experience and one which will not get repeated. Inverness is full of places to dine so I'll chose somewhere else next time. It's just that Giraffe is so conveniently placed that popping in there before shopping at TESCO would/could have been a nice treat to be repeated - but sadly after that first...

We got in to Inverness and we were looking for something to eat. We didn't check the opening times and got in late. We were told straight away that the kitchen closed in 7 minutes and that we had to order quickly. We did so, and soon we were the only ones left in the restaurant. All of our meals were very tasty and were finished quickly. We ordered desserts. My sisters ordered a portion of churros to share and I got a whoopie cookie. At this point the kitchen had been officially closed for about an hour, but there were still some staff left there. A waiter - I think his name was Jordan - after practically all of the other wait staff had left, was still taking orders from us and was just generally being incredibly nice. As we were finishing dessert, me and my sisters decided to tip 15% total, and to share it between us so we each payed 5%. When we gave him the tip he was incredibly lovely and gave us little coloured novelty giraffes (which we have all named) and thanked us profusely. So basically, we had a brilliant dinner and all of the staff were awsome. Would go...
