The Black Sheep Pub is a delightful establishment that stands out in the bustling cityscape as a haven for those seeking a touch of tradition and a dash of modern comfort. With its welcoming facade and the promise of a memorable experience, this pub has become a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike.

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by the rich, warm tones of the wooden interior, accented by the soft lighting that creates an ambiance of relaxed elegance. The walls are adorned with tasteful artwork and photographs that pay homage to the pub's heritage, each telling a story of the community and the laughter shared within these walls.

At the heart of The Black Sheep Pub is its bar, a masterpiece of craftsmanship that offers an extensive selection of drinks. Whether you're in the mood for a perfectly poured pint of ale, a glass of fine wine, or a bespoke cocktail crafted by the skilled bartenders, your thirst for quality beverages will be quenched. The pub takes pride in featuring a rotating selection of local and international brews, ensuring that even the most discerning of palates will find something to savor.

The Black Sheep Pub isn't just about drinks; it's a cultural hub where the arts are celebrated. Service at The Black Sheep Pub is impeccable. The staff are not only knowledgeable about the menu but are genuinely passionate about providing a welcoming experience. They move through the pub with ease, engaging with patrons in a manner that makes everyone feel like a regular.

One of the most charming aspects of The Black Sheep Pub is its outdoor seating area. Here, amidst the greenery and under the canopy of twinkling lights, guests can enjoy their drinks while basking in the city's vibrant energy. It's a perfect spot for a summer evening's relaxation or a crisp autumn afternoon's respite.

Sustainability and responsibility are also key tenets of The Black Sheep Pub's philosophy. Efforts to reduce waste, support local suppliers, and maintain environmentally friendly practices are evident and contribute to the pub's positive impact on the community.

In essence, The Black Sheep Pub is more than just a place to grab a drink—it's a sanctuary where friendships are forged, ideas are exchanged, and the spirit of camaraderie is alive and well. It's a pub that honors its name by daring to be different, standing out from the flock with its exceptional service, delightful atmosphere, and commitment to the community. Most frustrating experience with the pub and the restaurant next door. Yesterday we were told there were no tables to book in the restaurant for today, BUT if there are free tables in the pub, we can order from the restaurant menu and eat there. Something I’ve done several times before. We arrive at the pub, hoping for some of those delicious seasoned steaks, we do find tables, enough places to sit the group (9 people alright), and now we are told it’s up to the pub staff if they let us eat here. They don’t, even though other customers are having their meals alright and there’s plenty of room around. But no, we can’t have our steaks. Lost for words. Never coming here again and planning to actively discourage all my friends from coming here.

This is the Royal Hotel's bar.. At 9pm on a Friday night in July, the bar was quite busy! .. But It appears they had to stop serving bar meals, because they couldn't cope! The staff were just plain grumpy!.. Interestingly! .. You had to spend a minimum of £10 on your card, otherwise it was cash only! I thought that type of rule stopped years ago! Well not in the Black Sheep!

I stayed at this hotel for a few nights a couple of years ago.. it was ok then!.. goodness knows what's brought about this change.. The hotel it's self is very nice, the rooms are of a high standard! It's a nice enough hotel, the rooms are clean with good facilities.. However certainly...

Good pub atmosphere & dog friendly area for eating in the bar or dining area at the side. Staff were friendly & quick to sort a table for us. The food is tasty and portions generous, special mention for the spicy chicken tenders with blue cheese dip - sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it was delicious! Fish & chips was nicely served with chunky tartare sauce, lemon & salad garnish, fresh tasting. All in all very good pub food, a stroll across the road from the harbour and great service with a dog friendly space. Definitely on my list of favourites.

Stopped here for lunch. Lots of Choice, dog welcome too, daughter had fish and chips, I had a salad and husband had sandwich and chips. All looked and tasted amazing. And arrived promptly. Bar staff very friendly and helpful. Had read previous negative reviews and no evidence of any issues, they were lovely today. Would definitely return.
