Went here for a quick lunch and left feeling awfully ill wishing we had just nipped to McDonald's instead...everything's seemed like reheated processed food from a store...I wasn't expecting the ritz, i was expecting maybe Bruce fayre or something similar for the standard but I was actually pretty dissapointed...there must have been about 4 tables occupied and one male server seemed in a very stressed state he barely said a word to us...the lady behind the bar was much more welcoming but the rest really let it down soggy watery burger dripping all over the place and burnt tasting mac'n'cheese on a hot plate with a fat steak with barely any steak....I've never been back and it took a few days for my gut to recover from what I did manage to eat, my man had the same issue our date was cut short and he had to go home and lay down as did I....wish it would have been different...my man left a little piece of art for the male server in hopes it would cheer him up...shame really as it looked far better than it tasted

We actually went twice in one day - lunch and dinner! Lunch was good as not many customers and service was quick. Good value for money food. I had chicken breast with sizzling vegetables - portions nicely filling. Went back in the evening and it was very busy. We waited a very long time, but to be fair, they had a notice saying they were short staffed and please to bear with them!. I had the salad plate and added the chicken and bacon bits to it - it was so yummy! My lunch was roughly ÂŁ9, as was my dinner. They have a good sized bar, to the left as you walk in, pool table, sports TV, darts corner, then to the right the main dining area, kids corner top right. Very nice - great value but hope they get more waiters as service was very slow in the evening.

Stayed at premier inn had a mixed grill with fried onions soaked in water which tainted the rest of the meal try onion rings not worth the money came back 2 years later had the hunters chicken and the response from the kids was it’s acceptable never never again I drove 356 miles for food and bed never at this one if your manager wears gold rim glasses she needs retraining or removed from her position as her attitude as she don’t care that was the size of the chicken didn’t eat any peas like bullets and chips not cooked the Bruce steer clear from I bet I get sorry for your bad experience hope we can rectify it do better I stay in premier inns all week Larbert may choose a different one

Where do I start? I only gave this place a 1 star because it doesn’t give you the option for less!

First of all, I had to sit with a coat on most of our visit it was freezing!

Terrible service, terrible food and the play area stinks of urine!!

We arrived as a family for our Sunday dinner. Thinking this would have been a good place so our kids could play while we waited, didn’t realise we would be waiting over an hour on our meal!!

We sat down at 4:30pm kids immediately went to play in the soft play area, on entering it I was very near sick with the smell! It was horrendous!!

I was heading to the bar to order food as this was stressed on the menu. The manager was kicking about but told me to sit down and he would come to take our order. There was a very sour looking fella there too who looked extremely happy to be at work!! NOT - We got our drinks ok

We ordered through the ‘sour boy’ My husband order a starter & a main meal, & two kids meals. The kids had order the exact same but one with chips & one with potatoes, I only ordered a starter. Our starters came about 10 minutes later. I really wished I had took pictures of the side salad as it was one slice of lettuce!!

Then we waited........

And waited......

And waited......

1 hour & 15 minutes later we received another batch of our starters, by this time our children were very hungry and asking where their dinner was. We told the ‘sour waiter’ that we had already ate our starters we were waiting on my husbands main & our kids meals. He took them back to the kitchen.

We waited AGAIN!!

The manager came to our table. He told us “your order coming soon, it very busy!”

There were people arriving after us who were fed their starters & mains before us so my husband made a joke about sacking the chef, to which the the manager replied “then who would cook?” With a very offended expression! I said “there is nobody cooking our meals just now is there?” He walked away.

My husbands meal came out which was peri peri chicken skewers which he said were ok but again served with the worst looking side salad, it looked like it was chucked on a plate by a toddler. My daughters potatoes weren’t even cooked we couldn’t even cut through them.

The manager could sense our anger so offered us ice cream for our kids, probably about 99p off their menu! Ended up paying ÂŁ30 for rotten food and even worse service!!!

The only good thing about our visit was the girl who started her shift whilst we were there. She was very nice.

We certainly won’t be back and we would urge you to...

So disappointed in The Bruce, when we walked in it looked nice, first visit since the refresh/update from the old outside inn. Firstly it seemed like an issue we had not booked a table when more than half the restaurant was empty. Second and most importantly the service was absolutely terrible from one particular staff member. When we waited ages on our main meals after waiting ages on starters I commented to someone at my table, this was overheard by a server who proceeded to tell us many reasons why instead he maybe should just have apologised and gone to the kitchen to ask about our meals. When it came to deserts, basically some ice creams in bowls, we waited a good 20 minutes before I asked about them, the same staff member kind of grunted, went off then 5 minutes later just strolled past us, not even a "your deserts are on there way". Such a shame as the food is as expected, its 2 meals for ÂŁ9.99 and kids meal deals for a fiver, decent food cheap prices and we live a stone's throw from it with two young kids so would be going regular but will most likely be driving down to Brewers Fayre now. We spent ÂŁ74 at our table and would have left a ÂŁ10 tip but I only left ÂŁ3 as this staff member should not be working in a customer facing role, his colleagues will also be losing out on tips due to his attitude as tips will be split and customers wont be returning unless this changes. With loads of family housing nearby and in a good location this could do so well if run correctly but needs to clean up its act in the service area. We arrived at 5.15pm and didn't leave till gone 8.15pm, all down to time between courses. With better service and less waiting between courses this could easily be a 4 star place. Bar staff were okay and young lady who if not should be drafted to team leader as she was very nice but it only takes one horrible staff member to ruin a...

Nothing was great, the food was awful. It was cold, and not even cooked through. Two chicken tikkas came out not cooked, one of which was served to a 12 year old, and one to an OAP and they could have both had food poisoning. Not something that would be nice for either of them. We all were served our food out of turn of being ordered (we had four separate orders at the bar) and the two children had to wait until last to get their food even though we ordered it early. The kids burger was overcooked so much and left to go cold it had dried up and was inedible. The sweetcorn looked weird and even my boy said it tasted funny. They cooked another which we then had to wait even longer for, but the sweetcorn was still inedible. The rice was cold but dried out for both the tikkas, and the sizzling plate did not come out sizzling, but we didn't realise your policy if it doesn't sizzle you get the money back until we had left. The of the adults burger meat was also very cold. When we told the staff, we were met with eyes rolling, and non were really very apologetic. My step father managed to get a refund on his meal, but we weren't offered a refund on the rest. Then to add insult to injury, realised we had been over charged too! We were also over charged on our drinks the next evening after returning for some drinks after a funeral. The prices on the menus are different to what we were charged. I have receipts and photos to show this! We were told that there was only one chef in the kitchen, but surely it can't be hard to properly cook through the food and serve it hot?! We definitely won't be back, and will be leaving a trip advisor review also, warning others to steer clear unless they want to be either served cold food or...
