Disgraceful, humiliating treatment this evening (3rd of May 2025) at The Copper Top by a male waiter in his 50s (full details below). I have been here several times before with my family but will never step foot in here again and would strongly recommend against anyone bothering with this place.
Upon entering, the waitress didn't show us to our table, just pointed over without even turning around and got our drinks order wrong (missing a water), far from a warm welcome. I was waiting for about 10 minutes at the table to order while my family were in the bathroom, so I asked the male waiter could I order; his whole demeanour was standoffish and almost cynical from the start, like he didn't want to engage with me.
I made several attempts to order food, he apparently couldn't understand anything I was saying, he was laughing at me several times and even corrected me that I couldn't order two sides for the child's meal, which is simply incorrect (the menu clearly states it includes two sides, which we've ordered several times before). I had to keep repeating myself and asked him straight out was he having trouble understanding me or something. I'm Irish with an Irish accent, I've been living in Scotland a long time and have never experienced this age-old prejudice until this evening.
It was really humiliating and degrading to be laughed at like some kind of fool when simply ordering a meal. I angrily told him this was ridiculous, unacceptable behaviour and left, utterly humiliated and distressed. I still cannot believe how I...

As u can see my starter looked brilliant & the salmon tasted lovely but the crisp bread was a bit too hard as I had to saw my way through it with my knife & left a wee bit that would require a hammer & chisle to brake through it, but that said it tasted lovely. My main turkey 🦃 Christmas meal was near spot on. The gravy was nice & thick & the 3 slice of turkey was just the right thickness & very tender. The rest of the items on my plate were very good even though the roast TATTIES could have been roasted a bit more & at least the main course wasn't served up on a cold plate [which is a no! no!] NEXT the Christmas pudding (it was good to read on the menu that they didn't take Christ out & put down Xmas pudding) anyway it was very nice & what struck me the most was the lovely soft, moist berries on top of the pudding & the right thickness of cream to go with it. It was also good to get a cold can of quality ginger beer. Pity the waitress didn't ask me if I wanted ice in my glass, in most eating establishments they ASSUME that u do, but it tends to water down ones drink. It was no problem for her to empty the ice out for me. The tables r well apart & the place is very clean. The meal is not massive, but enough for an o.a.p. It was a bit expensive but that's ok because u get a lovely meal & all the staff I met were very nice, pity they don't have name tabs on. but who knows, that might all change. Pay then a visit & u won't be...
Read moreHappened across this place as we were staying at Premier Inn across the road, and were less than impressed with Beefeater attached to the hotel. Daughter has dairy intolerance, so rang up to ask the question of will she be able to have anything. Lady that answered was very knowledgable on the menu, suggested a few items, but as everything was cooked fresh they’d be able to alter something to suit. Brilliant! They managed to squeeze us in at last minute on a Saturday night, and the three of us were sooooooooo glad they did. Wife said it was the best steak pie she’d had in years! My enchilada’s were tip top too, my daughter had the kids chicken strips which was proper home made (no freezer rubbish). Chips were proper, even the peas were the sweetest I’ve tasted for a long time. All in all, just fantastic. Staff were very attentive while not pestering. We came back tonight (Monday) and was just as good! Wife and daughter pretty much had the same as they enjoyed it so much the first time! I had macaroni cheese, and it was soooooooo nice! Again, just a lovely place for a bite to eat. Thank you so much, and we’ll be back next time we’re...
