We had a really excellent meal last night at the Cree Inn, to celebrate my son's 15th birthday. The staff were attentive and really friendly, the dining area was cosy (if a little cool) and comfortable, and the food was excellent. This is not 'pub grub', it was excellent quality, beautifully cooked and delicious. There were 6 of us eating, we all had starters and mains, and 3 had desserts. With drinks included the bill was around £170, which these days offers really fair value, and for the quality it was excellent. Compliments to the chef, and all of the staff.

Called in for a quick pint whist up from Manchester ended up staying all afternoon. The elderly gentleman David behind the bar was an absolute star. The blonde lady ( whose name I didn’t get) was a great host being friendly and welcoming. One of the locals was very friendly and I enjoyed a couple of good chats whist ordering from the bar . The restaurant side looked great but we didn’t have Tim to eat. There’s a small seating area outside some of it partially covered. If you want a pint at a friendly pub you won’t go wrong her 😁

Friendly staff and service. Unfortunately had to send a steak back as it was requested to be medium to well but was served pink with blood leaking on to the plate. They readily took it back to be cooked some more but came back without the remaining tomato and onion ring and little bit of veg that was left. My pork in cider sauce, mash and crispy black pudding was nice (was a special).

So, the first time we went here we decided not to come back. The waitress ignored us when we came in, after 10 minutes we got the menu and after 10 more minutes we could order our drinks. When my boyfriend said "we also know what we would like to eat" she replied "there are people who came in first, so they will order first". 30 minutes later we finally could tell what we wanted to eat, after 30 more minutes we had our food. Pasta, but a very small portion so we were not even full at the end of the meal.

But then, 2 days later we went back again. The waitress was more friendly, helped us immidiatly and that meal (wraps) were more than enough. So we went back a few more times.

Based on our first expirience I will give it 3 stars. If that had not happened and if the meal was better I maybe would have given it 4.

Its not...

Visited here yesterday with family and after seeing and reading other reviews we were left overall disappointed. Our waitress seemed really pleasant and helpful until we asked for parts of the meal that were missing along with some condiments. The service then turned to things being banged or dropped onto the table. Couldn't try the cocktails as they have a new person working behind the bar and they can't make cocktails yet. At the very end after deserts we were not asked if we would like anything else but just simply asked if we would like the bill. We decided as a group that we wouldn't rush back here. Oh , missed out that we did ask if we could get a bowl for the dog to get a drink and this...
