The Gables — Restaurant in Scotland

The Gables has a lovely exterior, but the inside was less appealing. The setup was a bit confusing, with a bar side and a separate "restaurant" area that still had a bar atmosphere. Service is self-order at the counter, which isn’t a big issue, but it’s worth noting. Something I didn't expect as they are partnered with Mitchell & Butlers. They always have waiters at Miller & Carter's or The Harvester.

The food was a mixed bag. My daughter and partner enjoyed their meals, 🟥 But my steak dish was concerning. The plate it was served on had black charcoal bits flaking off onto the food, which felt like a serious safety risk. That definitely took away from the experience.

Would love to give some recognition to Stuart , there was 4 of us out for meal today and this man did it all on the front of house serving at the bar , collecting glasses and giving out to food from the kitchen it was rather busy and he was professional smiling and very polite helped us and others with all there needs even thou it looked stressful he did so well on his own .. the kitchen made mistake with our order and it was fixed and Stuart was very sorry about it happy to come back again and hopefully someone is on to...

We ordered our food but they didnt have enough Lasagne..so hubby had to pick something else...he chose curry....the portion was tiny...served with a small poppadom...but they insisted he pay an additional £1.30...It costs the business more to take this payment by card..He paid cash...but they searched everywhere trying to get change...Grandson asked for a Naked burger...just burger and bun...it came with everything on it...so then he had to wait while they redid it...Should have...
