EDIT: I came back for another meal and it was even better than first time. 'mon Troon. Support your local pubs for lunchtime food. I came back home to Scotland for my birthday. After visiting the family grave in Dreghorn we decided to get some food and headed to Troon. My stepmum wanted to treat me and had considered a more pricey establishment further towards the Marina, however there's limits to what I will have people spend on me and having read about the Harbour Bar I suggested we go there instead. The oldies ordered the lunchtime special deal (two courses for under £8) and had Vegetable Soup followed by a Small Fish and Chips. The soup was homemade and served with a roll and butter. Both reported it to be really really nice. It was very well presented too, delivered on a wooden block. Next up, the fish. Served in a beer batter and cooked to perfection, it came with really chunky chips and a wedge of lemon and was perfect. All of us handed back empty plates. For a wee establishment I have to say that the food is really good. It's unpretentious and unfussy. And it is dug friendly so you can bring your well behaved hounds here. The pub is split with a bar area and a small lounge allowing for a family friendly dining experience for all ages. It's a great wee old school place, the sort that Scotland does really well. The view out the windaes is lovely. Troon lost a massive focal point when Tog's Cafe closed. It was nice to find a wee gem that makes we want to return again. EDIT: I forgot to mention the staff. Our server was friendly and attentive without...

Writing this on the train home as we just agreed what a lovely place The Harbour Bar is. In Troon for the day and we wanted to find a place to get in from the fresh wind and have a pint and meal. We were dressed for a winter walk on the beach and wanted somewhere snug and relaxed, so some places felt too dressy, and "on show". We walked in off the street having found The Harbour Bar by chance, and felt lucky to have found it! There are two main bars, and a snug; we were offered a booth in there. Great meal- there was a specials board, and loads on the menu: we went with Gyros, and "an Old Dirty" (a deconstructed cheesy chips and steak pie!) TV was showing the rugby, we could watch, but it wasn't on loud so you could hear yourself chat too, and the place is dog friendly, so we got to pat a pupper or two. Left feeling relaxed after what could have been a stressful day. We'll be back when we can...maybe even with a friend that has a dog (which can sometimes be complicated in some bars)/, but definitely welcomed here). Lovely staff, especially our main Server- we had a lovely chat with her☺️ Great service, cold beer. What more could you want? It actually got busier and busier, with tables being reserved, and filling up this modest sized place (although I think it has a beer garden complete with hula girl in Summer!), so I would suggest booking a head so you are not disappointed. This is the perfect traditional...

Went for Dinner last night with my partner .Been going here for a few years and staff and food always excellent.Unfortunately last nights dinner disappointed me .I asked for Prawn dinner and was served a lot of chips which took up the bulk of the plate and a few prawns on top .The last time I loved the Prawn dinner with rice and salad assumed same .I do not eat chips unfortunately! Asked if I could get another dinner without chips which came with a salad and was lovely .Was charged for 2 dinners .But manager eventually after speaking about the chip dinner deducted it from our bill .Thanks .And now barred ! It was not a complaint but My Dinner was 95% chips .Sorry but customer has to say and manager should not...

This place was exactly as the other reviews said which is why we went & I'm glad we did. Lovely staff, the waitress was trying to make my partner feel welcome by speaking a few words in Spanish, good food & service. Great location near our hotel as well. I'm usually very picky with eating beef but not one chewy bit. Lovely pint of home with Tennant's on draft too. The only thing is the feta salad had too much pomegranate for my taste but apart from that, great value. Come here if you're nearby, you won't be disappointed. Food only up until 8 though.
