Working in Hamilton for 2 days, drove around looking for something for my lunch, not much to see but eventually stumbled across this lovely rustic cafe/takeaway. From the outside it doesn't look much, but when you enter eventually as the queue is worth the wait. Inside its full of wonderful delights & the staff are more than welcoming. Anyway yesterday ordered a latte, club sandwich & Mars bar crispy cake. The only thing finished during lunch was the latte. This was not because I didn't like the food, it was the total opposite, every bite of my sandwich was bliss & totally packed, but could only finish half of it because there was so much of it & I wanted a bite of the gorgeous looking cake đ. Again I only managed a few bites & wasn't disappointed. Fantastic lunch was had & the remainder of both were taken home to enjoy last night. đ
So final day today & back I went to my delight on the menu was minestrone soup, my fav â¤ď¸ & eating it just now I can tell you I'm not disappointed. Just tucking into my southern fried chicken baguette as well, every bite is delicious. Of course I have bought a cake for later this evening. đđđ So next time I'm in Hamilton guess where I will visit 1st the next time, The Hungry Gannet & one thing is for sure, you won't be hungry after it. Give it a try you won't be disappointed đđđđđ Iain

Read moreWhile looking through old photos of our 2022 trip to the UK, I stumbled upon pictures of the dishes we had at The Hungry Gannet and was instantly transported back to that wonderful day.
My husband and I were traveling from Glasgow to Manchester and initially sought a good takeaway spot. By chance, we discovered The Hungry Gannetâand weâre so glad we decided to stop and dine in for brunch instead!
The food was absolutely amazing. Portions were generous and satisfying. My omelette (with chicken and tomatoes) was heftyâcrispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and served with a wonderfully refreshing salad. My husband had the Tandoori Chicken Wrap, and coming from Singapore, where Indian food is a staple, he was impressed by how authentic and flavourful it was. We polished off everything on our plates, though we couldnât quite finish the strawberry milkshakeâit was delicious but we were too full!
The cafĂŠ itself was cozy and intimate, despite being bustling from the moment we arrived until the time we left. The staff were super friendly, and we were fortunate to be served by the owner himself, who was warm and gentle. His kindness left a lasting impression on me, and it made our visit all the more special.
I was genuinely sad we couldnât return before leaving Scotland. Hereâs hoping we cross paths again someday. Wishing all the best to this incredible...

Spotted it because of it's cheery blackboard sign and being next to My Beautiful Launderette. It was just a lovely warm welcome, and beautifully laid back stylish...very busy with lots and lots of very happy takeaway customers... and we were lucky enough to be able to grab one of the few seats. We had amazingly generous sized double cheeseburger with a spicy- mayo sauce and great tasting chips. And GOOD COFFEE.... and I mean GOOD COFFEE! There were so many potential food options... I didn't know you could get so many slushies... let alone alcohol cocktail slushies! Stuff for healthy eating... Stuff for eating for pleasure (huge breakfast on offer!) And then cakes. We could not eat anymore than we fitted in there, but did purchase Takeaway pie (they were closing by then, but still took the time and offered to reheat I'd we wanted) AND JAMMIE DODGER CAKE... It was amazing. Ok. I now realise that I have over used the word amazing. But the food was amazing and the people who served us were amazing... and the decore was amazing. So the Hungry Gannet's amazing, okay Now to find reasons to travel to Hamilton West to visit again. I would honestly give this wee place more than 5 stars...
