Worst lunch I have had for years. Ordered fish finger sandwich and whilst it took 40 minutes to arrive the bread was curled up at the edges and I got about 8 chips. The bread was slightly crispy and very dry like it had been under a heat lamp for an hour. The fish fingers I honestly can’t believe whoever heated them up in the kitchen (clearly not a chef) still served them. The batter was soft like it had been microwaved and the fish inside was shocking, luke warm and a big gap between the fish and the batter. I suppose there are two elements to this. The people in the kitchen can only do the best with the ingredients they have. However to even have the brass neck to present that to somebody is shocking. It must have been clear to whoever put that out that it was unacceptable. Either that or you have people who simply don’t care what the customer gets. The person I complained to was very polite and apologetic and agreed. I was asked if I wanted something else and had the steak baguette. He will make it right away was the comment. 25 mins later my medium steak baguette arrived. Very well done, chewy steak arrived and to top of the shocker of a lunch the baguette was chewy. It seemed like it wasn’t fresh and probably again heated up… badly. I honestly wish I had recorded the experience for you to see. Surely as a “restaurant” you can’t seriously be happy supplying ingredients like this? Left half my steak baguette and half the over cooked chips. Asked how my meal was and to sum it up I said it was absolutely rubbish, it used to be good here. Not a single good point in that lunch and whoever cooked: heated that up should be ashamed of themselves as Marsdens should for supplying ingredients like that…. One bonus, I bough Birds Eye fish fingers on the way home, 6 for £2 done in the air fryer. If you wish the offer is there for your heater upper to get a lesson from me on how to heat up...
Read moreDon’t very often get out over a weekend because of gig commitments and shift patterns etc …but we thought we’d go out for some dinner tonight so went to Waterwheel in port Glasgow. What an absolute waste of time and money. Myself and partner ordered sirloin steaks. My partners was fine, mines on the other hand was like the bottom of a doc Martin boot. Onion rings saturated in frying oil and seeping all over the plate. Asked the server would he take it away as I wasn’t going to eat it nor pay for it. He lifted the plate to take it away but offered no alternative nor apology for the abhorrent standard of the food. Had to chase him to ask for a replacement or something else. Took the menu and quickly ordered a chicken tikka because both my son and partner were still eating. That came out in no less than 3 to 4 minutes. Complete miracle. AGAIN. Rice soaking with hot water, rubbery chicken. Hardly any flavour nor spice to curry sauce. Ate it because I was so hungry by this point. Also ordered a glass of cabernet wine to go with the steak. Guy tells me it’s a lovely red. Ok cool I’ll give it a go. Tasted better eldorado. The cost of a glass of Prosecco at £7.75 is way over the top. Absolute waste of time effort and money. Guts of £100 down the drain. So the only review I could give this restaurant is the make sure you know were the exit door is. It’s perfect for leaving. 10/10 Ill definitely give it a wide berth. Oh and lastly props to the microwave technician for the speed his fingers can type in...
