Have been today after a long time with my mum and my 11 months old baby (and hes pram).was reasonably busy and there was a double table near the till still available so we sat there i ordered drinks and started giving some food to my baby.there were 4 girls working there..one came out(i knew her since she has been working there for quite some time)and was very polite and she made me understand that the pram was a bit in the way..she was quite right so i moved it out as much as i could so people could go by and they could..but one of the girl sayed that wasn’t enough and that was a hazard.bare in mind they were all looking at me..and now even the other customers..so since that was the only thing she sayed but kept on starting at me..i tryed to move a bit more but the coffee shop is quite small so i asked if was ok..nope! So i asked do you want me to go?..the lovely lady sayed no and sayed we can move one table away and turned again to the girl to seek her approval …well in quite a disgusted face she sayed no!!!we cannot move a table and gived me a face that left me speechless and embarrassed because in the meantime more people were looking at me…so i sayed not a problem( in a lower voice because i felt ashamed ) got up took my baby food my baby my mum and sayed we will go.left the drinks untouched behind. Gived my baby the food outside lloyds bank in the cold since everywhere else was busy. This place was one of my favourite.after today I realised is not child friendly and the girls behind the counter don’t have the skills to relate to customers. You can say anything but in a polite way making customers feel wanted and not that they there to bother you. Prior to this visit on the same day we went for a quick lunch to nonna cappuccino not far from malabar…same thing.. shop very small, busy with people but the owner was so kind and attentive that he did hes best to get us a confortable table and make us feel “wanted” as customers witout us asking for any extra attention as i’m not the sort of person that...
Read moreMy 80 Yr old Mother and I were on our way to Number 8 for a Mother's day meal, it had been raining all day. As we approached the outdoor Umbrella that Malabar owns, the owner ( who I have been told by staff is the older man that works there ) saw us walking towards him, let us walk underneath and then pulled the umbrella down which then emptied it's water onto my 80 Yr old disabled Mother's head and shoulder. I didnt realise how much water had fallen onto my mother at the time but said to the man, "Oh you could have waited until we had walked past", to which he replied, "I haven't got time" with a grin on his face. The side of my mothers head and face was soaking wet!! Upon sitting down at our table in Number 8 and discussing it with others, I realised how arrogant and rude this man's behaviour was!! How utterly disgusting to treat an elderly, disabled woman this way!! Not even an apology!!
I would never grace that place with our presence and will be telling others not to either. This man was very lucky my husband was parking the car at the time, but I'm sure he wouldnt have done it to a man!
The owner is very dismissive of complaints and tries to make excuses.. No, words were NOT misheard on both sides. What I wrote waa EXACTLY what was said and my mother was soaked. Maybe train your staff to behave in a better manner towards the public and not make excuses for his...
