I visited this café looking for a peaceful spot to do a little work, but was told that laptops weren’t allowed. Despite the lovely atmosphere and decor, I was asked to leave for having mine out. I hadn’t noticed the signage (if it was even clearly visible), and had I known about this outdated policy, I wouldn’t have ordered.
When I expressed this politely, my coffee and bun were taken away before I’d even had a sip or a bite, and I was refunded. While the gesture of the refund is acknowledged, the entire interaction was needlessly cold and rigid.
It was a disappointing experience overall, and my suggestion remains: if you want to attract modern clientele, don’t be so hostile to modern life. A café that bans laptops altogether might want to rethink its role in today’s world.
Update – Over a Year Later: I recently revisited this review and was genuinely stunned by the owner’s outrageous and aggressive response. Rather than engaging with any sense of professionalism or basic courtesy, they instead chose to threaten legal action over a customer sharing their personal experience.
Let me be clear: nothing about my original review was fabricated. I calmly recounted what happened, and I stand by it entirely. Instead of demonstrating humility or a willingness to improve, the owner resorted to bullying tactics and wild accusations—behaviour that speaks volumes.
Frankly, it’s astonishing that someone in the hospitality industry would behave in such a hostile and vindictive manner toward a paying customer. A little emotional intelligence and basic customer service would go a long way. The owner’s conduct, both in person and online, is as unwelcoming as it is unprofessional.
As a result I’ve decreased my...

The venue and location are both great.
Unfortunately the gluten free options are abysmal. Literally only a cookie.
The attitude of the owner/manager leaves a lot to be desired.
My friend and I had gotten a bun/cookie and 2 drinks. The owner came over to us, before we had even finished our drinks and asked us if we were ordering another drink. To which we said no probably not. He then, rather brusquely told us to leave as he needed the table.
This, in my opinion, was unnecessary, given that there was in fact a table free adjacent to where we were sat. Furthermore, there were male/female couples and men sat nearby who did not have a drink at all, nor did they have food, or a table number visible to indicate that they were awaiting food/drink.
Consequently, I can only deduce that it was because we are 2 women. Perhaps if there was a male in our party this may not have occurred in this fashion.
I have only ever bought take out cookie/coffee but given the treatment of sitting in, neither of us shall be making future...
