A bit of a pickle. Average for food and unacceptable for the rest .
I was after a good Indian food one evening . Having the magic TasteCard with me I have gone through a list of places to spot the best in the area (accepting the TasteCard).
Service seemed good and attentive to start with. Then, it took a nose dive, when the bill discount was due (as per a TasteCard promise). I did mention the "card" to the welcoming waiter but the serving one knew nothing about it - at the time the ratio of waiting staff to the diners was 2:1 at least! (( The whole situation made me feel like I was trying to rob them of their money. I dread to think what my companion thought of it all! The word "embarrassment" springs to mind.
The bill was corrected promptly, but instead of a discount I was rather given a..."good will gesture" and an incorrect guidance, that the deal applied to main courses only. Thanks Raj Baj!! Probably in your place, that is.
Without prejudice one part of the food was as expected. The other part - main course of Monk fish - overcooked, dry and flavourless.
I wrote a complaint email to the restaurant about my poor dining experience. Two weeks later I'm yet to receive a reply...This is rather disingenuous from a famili run restaurant that congratulate itself on its customer satisfaction and overall excellence as per "About Us" website foreword.
Perhaps a good customer service refreshment course and a "don't bury your head in a sand pretending that nothing happened" training for the management would not come a...
Read moreReally bad experience on NY Eve. We pre- booked a table and waited for 40 minutes after the agreed time- they said the wine was on them as an aploogy . I was very unhappy as we were standing waiting as there as a DJ was placed were the seats are- the main waiter should have told us there was a mistake and there was no seats and we would have left- I told him this and he kept saying the food was on them and apologised- we got a table and they brought us popadums which we didnt ask for, then they brought a mixed starter player which we didnt ask for- the waiter kept saying the food was on them- we ordered 3 mains and one naan- we had calmed down by then and were determined to enjoy what was left of the night- we had another bottle of wine and agreed i would pay for this. I had one beer also. We asked for the bill and it came to £110.05 OMG! i paid this , stupidly now thinking, but it was NY eve and i was trying to enjoy the night after the early mess, they had charged us for a NY 3 set course which i never asked for- i paid an extra £10 to cover the extra 5 pence and the young waiter only gave me £5.50 in 50 p’s back! . I walked away, not wanting to ruin the night further by a scene - other people in the restauant were causing a scene already - i...
Read moreGood food let down by the worst management of a restaurant I have ever experienced. Also, beware of additional items on your bill. Being busy is excusable but you shouldn't allow walk-ins to take tables before bookings who have been waiting longer. If you are fully booked and bookings are delayed over 1 hour, simply stop allowing walk-ins. Problem is nobody was greeting and staff rushing past ignoring us. I wasn't going to leave a bad review since the food was tasty, one of the waiters was nice and maybe they were just having a bad night but at the end of the meal, a second bottle of wine was added to our receipt. When I questioned the additional bottle which was different and more expensive from the one we were drinking, the new waiter with the bill said "I saw you drinking it". I was drinking beer after the first glass so I'm not sure how my Mum would have finished almost two bottles of wine by herself in the short time we were actually sat down. Then when we were leaving, we heard another table complain about a surprise bottle of merlot on their bill when they had two glasses of a different wine!...
