We went here at Acorn Inn on Sunday 16th May, for my sons birthday lunch. Outside cos inside rules weren't on for another day yet, but it was ok, was all under cover, which was good cos it absolutely threw it down, no one can do anything about the weather eh?...but we were happy that it wasn't leaking, and the outside heaters were on so wasn't too bad, and plenty of room around the seating areas. The servers were absolutely lovely and smiling, there were a couple of little hiccups, post mix in the coke ran weak so tasted like soda water, but I got another one. My grandsons meal didn't come, they'd forgotten him... but that came reasonably quick, chicken nuggets n chips. My son and I ordered the Hunters Chicken with Gammon, cheese, bacon and bbq sauce, garlic bread, coleslaw and salad. It looked absolutely fabulous 10/10 for presentation. I thought it tasted a bit off but didn't say anything cos thought it might have been the bbq sauce cos don't normally have sauces, and my son didn't say anything so thought it must have been my taste buds.... at 71 they can be a bit iffy at times...lol... All the other meals in my family were fine so like I said, I didn't want to moan, or wait another 30 mins or so for another meal. I wish I had though... Come Monday, both myself and my son were ill all day. Paul said he felt sick but I didn't. We both had really bad stomach pains and on and off the toilet all day...6 times I had diahorea. Not good at all. But needed...
Read moreI've sent an email and messaged on Facebook regarding the following complaint but have yet to hear back so I thought I'd try and get some contact another way! I came in on Sunday for a family meal and I have to say I was incredibly disappointed. Our starters took 45 minutes to come when it wasn't overly busy. People got sat after we'd ordered and their mains came out before our starters. Then when our mains came my sons meal was wrong. We'd ordered pizza and got sent pasta, and my steak was ordered rare but came medium at best (more med/well in my opinion but I'm aware different places cook differently). So we then had to wait for mine and and my sons meals to be redone. By the time we got them my partner and other son had near enough finished. Didn't hang around for dessert because at that point we all just wanted to leave. The young girl serving us was the probably the best thing about the experience and was very apologietic about it. She's the only reason I didn't raise an issue whilst we were there, she looked so worried that I was going to kick off bless her. I do understand that sometimes you might be understaffed and things go wrong but I don't expect to pay over £70 for it to go as wrong as it did. Not a single apology from any management even though it was obvious our entire afternoon was a shambles. Such a shame because I've been before and...

Very disappointing won’t be returning and will be advising family and friends not to go.
Me and my wife had the Sunday dinner and our daughter had the kids meal.
Beef was mainly fatty. The meaty parts where tough. 3 stems of what was meant to me broccoli. Some unnecessary metal pot that had tiny bit of cauliflower in. Then the rest if not all of the meal was definitely microwaved.
Daughter had pizza, garlic bread and beans with brownie for afters.
Pizza was a Chicago Town microwave pizza, garlic bread was rock hard and pizza hard to cut near the outside and beans had been sat out for a while by the look and texture of them.
On arrival you have to insert your card which I’m starting to think is some sort of plot so that you can’t leave without paying because the food being so horrendous so forced to eat it.
The servers table is bang behind the table we sat at with the phone ringing. It was so close the waiter may as well have just join us at our table. Felt like we couldn’t have a conversation. Carpet was patch work and the table was scattered in random decor that is in the way and wall with random gravy splodges.
Came home feeling hungry and robbed off £40 and shocked with how people want...
