We have been to the previously to the Crown and Cushion, and I've recommended it to others has the food and the staff were very good and we were able to have a smaller size three course version of the Sunday Lunch ( same size and price as the over 60s menu which is normally only Monday to Friday) . So today when we presented the full size menu only the Waitresses insisted we must have got the day wrong and when I still said it was definitely Sunday they still thought we were wrong ,plus when I told them my Mum couldn't eat a large portion they just mumbled something about a Child's portion but didn't explain any more and left us just with the standard Sunday Lunch menu only ,not even another menu listing We then saw one waitress obviously discussing us and the other one laughing at the bar ,we were sat there at least ten minutes and was about to order but the waitress that had just been laughing walked past and ignored my Mum ,so we decided to leave ,after still trying to explain that we had a smaller size three course Lunch before . Afterwards I felt that upset that I rang and asked to speak to the Manager who said he was sorry and that he would speak to the staff and ring me back later .So far I've not received a call back so I'm very unhappy and would not recommend The Crown and Cushion to...
Read moreNot even one star..........We literally called in for a quick drink tonight on our way home from having a meal elsewhere when we spotted a group of friends, so after purchasing drinks we went to sit with them, when we got approached by a member of staff who was very rude...... she basically asked why we had sat down, that she believed we was in the way as there was a couple sat opposite eating and said because we was a large group, the couple must have found us intimidating whilst they were eating (They insisted to us that we wasn't & that they had finished) we wasn't loud or over powering, we simply was just chatting. To say I was shocked is an understatement, it was totally uncalled for and after speaking to the manager he was just as rude, he said we was sat in an "eating" area, might I add our friends hadn't eaten and been sat there for two hours and it was 10 'o clock at night!! and there were people sat everywhere. The tables that were around were dirty, my glass wasn't clean and the toilets are disgusting, I certainly wouldn't eat there. Honestly go to the acorn pub up the road, less pricey, much better staff and excellent food. Avoid this place....... really really disappointing, they should...
Read moreI went here yesterday after a funeral, I had read " Trip Advisor " and it didn't look too good! Well, whoever wrote a bad review on this place must have been either jealous or a fellow pub owner, because it was fantastic food, excellent service and very friendly. There was a queue for the buffet, so Jane, who has worked there for thirty years, went back into the kitchen and brought our tables, plates of sandwiches, pork pies, chicken drumsticks and sausage rolls, which, by the way, were all delicious, then she fetched us some chips. One of the other staff, fetched my husband a menu because we are definitely going back there for a meal. We saw some of the meals coming out of the kitchen and they looked so tasty and from what I saw, there were mostly empty plates, so obviously as tasty as they looked. I would recommend anyone who wants a good, fresh, value for money meal, go to this place, you will not be...
