We have frequented this exquisite establishment numerous times and recently decided to share this gem with our friends by hosting a sit-down meal. There were 16 of us, indulging in a splendid five-course meal accompanied by a delightful variety of wines. The culinary experience was exceptional, with each course served promptly, ensuring a seamless dining experience. A heartfelt thanks to Dan, the talented chef, and Andy, a dedicated owner, for their remarkable efforts.
The service was impeccable. Lead by Vic and with the help of Pat, who were wonderfully attentive and genuinely lovely, ensuring that everyone was comfortable and well-hydrated throughout the evening. Their hospitality went above and beyond, even when we lingered long past closing time, they remained gracious and welcoming.
And then, there’s the wine. The selection is nothing short of impressive, featuring a mix of classic, new world, and even very new world wines. The constantly rotating stock always offers something intriguing, yet they consistently have a classic vintage Bordeaux on hand those cosy evenings sometimes demand.
We all had an absolutely fantastic time and I cannot recommend this place...

Autumn 2022, family owned Gills & Co Wine Bar & Eatery, joined Ecclesall Rd out of a desire to bring a fantastic range of wines to Sheffield at reasonable prices, served with delicious food in a relaxed and friendly environment. This gorgeous little place is classy, chic and perfect for a meet with a mate or date.
I enjoyed;
Truffled mushroom arancini served with truffle aioli and chives (v) £9 - these were solicitously comforting and creamy!
Pressed slow cooked lamb breast served with prune & red wine reduction, mint and xa'atar (gf) £12 - a taste sensation and melted in the mouth
Lan Xtreme Organic Rioja & Tritáno Montepulciano - some of the most fantastic reds I’ve drank
I also tried a taste of the Pork meatballs served with creamed leeks, pomme puree and plum jam £10 - mouth-watering.
The hosts, food and wine were all faultless. I should probably have tried more food as 2 small plates didn’t fill my greedy belly, the focaccia is a great option to soak up some of that wine too! They have weekly wine tasting events, book a table to eat and drink in, or simply walk in and browse their selection of wines...
Read moreWe booked in advance (a dog friendly table) and made it a 'centre piece' of our Saturday afternoon. We were delighted with our experience. This place is just what Sheffield needs.
The team were friendly and clearly place importance on their guests having a good time. It's not difficult to find a wine that you can enjoy, and the food was superb, particularly with a 'pairing' perspective in mind.
The team even spent some considerable time valiantly trying to dig out wines of a specific vintage for me that were not on their list. Heroic!
Also lovely to chat to Andy; sounds very much like their tasting events are popular and I can see why.
We found out having left there that there really is no other place in Sheffield centre outside of restaurants (that I could find) that come close; particularly in terms of trying to find fine wines. On reflection I should have taken a bottle or two with me! :-)
Without doubt we will be supporting this business every time we visit Sheffield, and look forward to doing so.
I might also call ahead next time to save them rummaging through their cellar!
bravo, thank you...
